    CoolRetro-Opel "C" Manta?

    Is the "C" Manta going to look like this? [German news paper]
    Opel Ascona;
    Only built from 1970 - 1975

    Understeer: The front of the car hits the wall,
    Oversteer: The rear of the car hits the wall,
    Horsepower: How fast the car hits the wall,
    Torque: How far the car pushes the wall.

    When hell freezes over.

    Chevy Camaro sold as an Opel? GM does some strange stuff at times, but even this is too much from them. Chevy Camero as an Opel. Lol! I seriously doubt if that will ever happen.

    That's an unreliable gossip paper. There are rumors of a new Manta and they just took a Camaro and put the Opel badge on it saying it could be built off this platform (as I understand unsubstantiated). A car based on the Camaro I personally think would be a bit too large in size.

    Agreed, apparently no one got the memo that a Camaro weighs over 4,000 lbs.

    But let's give this idea some legs, and look forward to the possibility that GM is looking back and has identified that a small, very light coupe with sporting intentions (rear-drive) would get at the budget minded put off by the steep entry price of a BMW 1 series.

    The flip side is that it would probably come to the US with the Vega name, and the flip-side of *that* is the possibility of a Cosworth version that may get at the STI/Evo market (with AWD and a real manual trans). That would leave SS option that might get at the 135i

    Remember, back in the day, The Opel GT never quite fulfilled its sales expectations, then later the Manta arrived with its more usable interior and much better handling. Fast forward and we see that we are on the heels of a discontinued Sky/Solstice/GT yet again, and a buyers climate that favors economical choices without compromising the driving experience.
