Not to hijack this thread, but it applied to a California company:
During 1998, I worked for a company that manufactured large, power protection transformers.
Transformers are submersed in varnish, removed air with autoclave, and then baked (one large machine).

CAL/OSHA inspected factory and questioned opened drums filled with scrap metal. (Varnish arrived in large 50-55 gallon drums.)
Opened drums were left outside and collected rain. Numerous large drums, with liquid (varnish and water) had to be disposed as hazardous waste.
We learned to oven bake the varnish in the empty drums, before we used them as trash containers. I never knew the cost, but it was not cheap.

Hey Folks here is one of the best things we could have done for our company, all wrapped up in one colorful nut shell. You see, int he past, all these years there was this famous thing called "the three Germany boxes", knick named this all through the 80's and 90's and beyond. This is where all the little itty bitty trinket stuff ended up. Everything from hood squirters to flood plugs, underhood rubber bumpers to little plastic deals, clips, bulbs, lamp gaskets, shift knobs, radiator caps, any and all unique items.

This system worked very well for us. Even as we found occasional NOS Original Opel goodies, all these parts would hit these famous three boxes. Well now that everything has changed and we are buying up all of the worlds inventory of these parts that we can, alot of things have to change.

We noticed just yesterday that it took us and hour and a half, almost 2 hours just to fish out these little items for so many customers now aware that we have every little item. To do this everyday continuously is not longer time or cost effective for us.

Three big boxes. What an old tradition and time to end it, some 32 years later. Here's our big new solution - Harbor Freight's automotive bin boxes, once a novelty, has now become a necessity for Opels Unlimited. We are currently underway building four of these to currently organize inventory and price some 200 new items. These will be located on the first floor showrooms/walk-in waiting area for all the customers to personally oh and ah and touch every item themselves.

A real crash course in what is really available currently, worldwide, in all new parts only. This will be built over the next couple of weeks and as the bins fill up, the Sales and prices will be put out there for everyone to see.

It was definitely time to give as we have purchased so many parts from so many different companies, or even had the parts built for ourselves. Now it is all piling up under our feet as we unpack all of our suitcases and displays that we have been carrying around from State to State all year.

This is just the tip of the iceberg as we have to properly organize and store tens of thousands of dollars of new parts added to our inventory this year.
Inventory Organization is starting to come to OU. The move didn't help I know.
Good news for those of us who order from you. It took forever for you to locate that relatively large Manta head pipe to ship it. Lol!
    Keep it up.

Weekly Wrap Up Saturday September 12, 2015

Weekly Wrap Up Saturday September 12, 2015

Hey Folks, as promised, here are the first pictures of the first 60 bins as they are being filled up from the first Riverside Museum inventory as we start the process of organizing all of the little "unobtanium" parts.

Most of these things have been in hiding for about 20 years. Most every part is new factory Opel NOS. Some 20% would be some of the new products we are offering for 2015.

Hey Folks, Todd here, as I look at the task in front of me I have to just say "whew, this is going to be hard. No way I can do it in a weekend wrap up, but I have to start somewhere."

On another subject I have to say I am bursting with energy to show off a huge amount of products we have already taken pictures of that are brand new offers being sold exclusively by the OU crew starting now. I promise this will come in next weekend's wrap up and start a roll on our 96 new products.

So, for now I promise to show you all the bins as they were being filled up with some crazy rare pieces. Most of them no bigger than an inch, but still oh so important to the Opel community. Mostly things we do not roadtrip. Many things available now new, but not necessarily in the future unless Opels Unlimited makes the next part you all need by your response.

For instance, Manta/Ascona little red magic button. Not $75 bucks how about $5 bucks? (not available now but we will do it, when requested).

So here goes, to put parts to prices to all these things tonight would just be too much for us after shipping parts and building cars another day.

So pictures for now. We can't do 60-100 ads tonight but we will start describing things and try to post more than once a week. We will wrap this up by the end of the year as promised but it looks like 200 products we will have to describe and price, as of now.

How about this? We are getting the pictures out so all you Opel gurus out there can have fun calling out and identifying all the rare parts. Of course there will be stories of upgrades and better parts available from Todd, even in this current inventory, for everything you are looking at currently. We will have some fun with this together.

For now have fun finding that tiny little thing you can't live without and have been looking for for years. If you need answers now just give us a call at 909-355-OPEL(6735) or even drop an email at opelsunlimited@excite.com

Little red magic button? Is that a thing that a European guy like me don't understand?
In all honesty, what is that?

Why were you seeing pics of the new Corvette, Mustang GT, etc months before they were on the market? That's what they call it "advertising"! JMHO -- Doug

If they were saying "coming soon" I'd agree with you. But "not available now but we will do it, when requested" - what does that mean???? Is one request enough, or do they need multiple requests to go ahead with it? Very fuzzy.

Official Opels Unlimited Response. Hey Folks to clear things up. How about that was a random thought? As an Opel company that trys to carry every single part we are, so to say the least, very annoyed that something can be sold on ebay for $75 much to the world's dismay that should sell for about $10.

The statement was made out of frustration that there is still something out there that we do not have a handle on....look take the ball and run with it, here's Todd's idea. If he was still in 7th or 8th grade he could get his wood shop teacher to buzz and sand these for about $5 each. Make the bottom flat, no pesky break off pins, a piece of double sided foam tape on the bottom and paint the darn thing red. Crisis over, it's just too much drama.

Somebody please make this and we will buy them. Otherwise, if there is bulk interest, 20 or more people, we will make them.

There you go in a nutshell, that is all that is going on with this part. Hope that answers all your questions. Take Care and Happy Opeling.

    Another Thought Magic Red Button

Here's another thought - isn't there an open squarish hole in the center? Or for Pete's Sake, just get out a quarter inch drill bit and go right down the center a quarter inch only, and make the piece of wood with a quarter inch peg in the center of it, ready to go. A touch of glue in the center. The double sided tape all around the sides. Hit it, beat it, wack it all you want, wack it so hard it pops out, just pick it up and put it back in. No more little plastic pins to break off and stop everything from working. Too thin, bad original design.

This is how your mind thinks when you are determined to make every single Opel part that works at a reasonable cost to eveyone. Over paying for this item we have seen enough.

It will end soon, we promise this. Even on this lame part. Keep us posted or get on board with us to do something about it. That's the solution. Opel people getting together to do the right thing for the better good. We will not be held ransom for any part. Good night Folks.

Weekly Wrap Up September 20, 2015

Weekly Wrap Up September 20, 2015

Hey Folks, here ends another great week here at Opels Unlimited. More and more people are noticing all of our new little One Stop Opel Shop parts and products and everyone is happy ordering anything they want with nearly 100% instant success rate of having every part in stock for all you GT Manta Ascona and Kadett guys out there.

We will end up keeping this short as it is nearly 2 am and we are exhausted. Working super late every day this week.

Finally finished the night with a completely tagged end to end wiring harness for an old customer, giving him a super easy install. Removing his engine years before and not remembering where everything goes.

We just sold out of our new perfect quality high end Firewall material. But don't worry many more are on their way, even now.

Finishing the night with a custom rebuilt Weber Carb. finally able to reflect on the week. Like we said, so tired this week. We promise that we will get a second round of all of our 96 new products offered. We are aiming for mid next week and we will keep it up.

It will probably take five or six weeks to get it all out there. Even including eventually naming off all the small parts in our newest Germany NOS bin organizer. We will be adding another 50 categories this week and will fill in all the new bins.

The Opels Unlimited Museum also go hit up for some more movie and magazine articles. We will give you updates on that next time.

Meanwhile we hope you are all enjoying our newest current three part Sale. And are still enjoying your car for the Summer. Until next time, Take Care and Happy Opeling to all, Todd Debbie and Tammy and the Opels Unlimited Crew.

Weekly Wrap Up September 26, 2015

Weekly Wrap Up September 26, 2015

Hey Folks here we have another Weekly Wrap Up. We have been posting picture sets and listing new parts items for this year. In the last few days hopefully you have all seen this and are following our newest New Parts Sale Year End Wrap Up. And it looks like it will have at least some six or eight parts before we are finished.

We will definitely do our best to get pictures out there for everyone to see as well.
We have had so much fun this year lowering the price on everything this year as well as obtaining everything there is out there for everyone.

Another fun thing that's been happening the last couple of weeks is that we have another group of people wanting to do a magazine article for Grit Magazine and Traune Wagen Magazine both in Germany. We have definitely been recognized a lot this year for all of our newest accomplishments. It's really great to see.

This week we received many boxes from overseas with all sorts of new parts and especially complete Opel GT interior packages of the highest quality. We have everything in stock now at some really great prices. There's just not anything that is not available new for our Opel GTs anymore, don't be afraid to ask for anything for any Opel. Until next week, Take Care and Happy Opeling.

Weekly Wrap Up October 4, 2015

Weekly Wrap Up October 4, 2015

Well here we are coming to the end of Summer and this last week went by so fast. The scoop here is that Todd and Debbie are getting ready to take off with Todd's family to Hawaii which is technically our very first non-working vacation we have ever taken in history. It seems that our vacations all Summer long are actually just going to all of the big Car Shows hauling 400 pounds of merchandise in our suitcases to set up a big sales display and work hard every day at whatever event we are doing.

This time, for the first time, there is no work to do. And with Todd's parents being 85 and 75 and his Dad having hip replacement surgery this year, the time seems right. A real vacation. Everyone thinks Todd is not going to be able to handle it not doing 20 deals a day. But certainly he will live and family time is important.

So, as promised Opels Unlimited will not be closing it's doors for even one day as it never has before in the past 32 years. Tammy will be running the shop and the regular 909-355-OPEL number will be the main call in number for all you guys. Also her personal cell number is 909-452-5355.

With having to go tomorrow morning, we are not going to have time for Part Three of the All New Parts Sale for 2015. One thing we can do is put out lots of pictures of our famous parts Sales Display that we haul around the country for all of you each Summer. Just check out all the New Parts and Products we know you will all love. Any questions or pricing on something you like, just give us a call.

Also another update, most everyone knows already, but just in case, we are not doing an Opel OctoberFeast this year. We may just cancel this idea permanently as attendance and correspondence is nothing like what happens in June at our International Opel Festival and Picnic. That event is really off the hook and people come from everywhere and the timing is right. Actually, just the perfect time for a big Opel event with great weather on five acres of special private property. Designed for the Mayor of Perris to hold events and host parties. Definitely a great thing so all of you that want to plan for a great picnic and Festival, just figure the June event will be going strong next year.

Meanwhile we hope you are all having a great time driving your Opels and being celebrities everywhere you go in your great little cars. We will be back on the 14th to wrap up our year end taxes and then we will continue with Part Three of our next great Sale. More pictures and parts descriptions coming soon. At this point, we see that we have clearly passed our goal of 96 new products offered for 2015. It will most likely take us six parts to complete the current sale and then we will follow it up with pictures and prices on a great Christmas Sale, as well.

For now, Take Care and Happy Opeling,
    The Opels Unlimited Crew

Weekly Wrap Up October 11, 2015

Hey Folks here is the weekly wrap up for the week of October 11, 2015. Todd and Debbie are still having a great time in Hawaii but they are now down to two days left.

Finally a real vacation, there is so much beauty and things to do in Hawaii. We would highly recommend it to everyone at some point in their life.

Two more big packages came in from different companies in Europe this week with about 20 new parts to offer. We can't wait to start showing it all off when we get home.

We are sure you all cannot wait to see Part Three of the New Parts Sale for 2015. We know you have all been enjoying our eBay ads as well as our newest crazy sale.

We can't wait to get back to working on cars, building projects and making peoples dreams come true.

Tammy has been doing a great job on our Taxes and keeping up with all your shipping orders.

We are still very caught up with getting everybody's parts out.

Remember folks no Opel OctoberFeast this year. Our next big event will be the International Opel Festival and Picnic the second weekend in June 2016. Stay tuned for details on this very popular event.

Another section that will be coming in our newest Sale will be a large collection of our Cars for Sale and even a Christmas Special showing off lots of really great Christmas presents that all you Opel Nuts will love.

Weekly Wrap Up October 18, 2015

Weekly Wrap Up October 18, 2015

Hey Folks Todd and Debbie are back from Hawaii and it was great to have a real vacation. The first in Todd's work life. Todd did find the word OPEL on a sign but of course no real Opels to work on. This vacation was with Todd's family a real serious time of family bonding.

We know you are all waiting for Part 3 of the New Parts for 2015 Sale. We have been working on it. We have been taking pictures the last few days of even more parts that came in from all around the world while we were on vacation.

Since we really tried to keep up with our Weekly Wrap Ups we are not going to put out our pictures today as we were thrust right in the middle of another big Car Show and Swamp Meet that ran this weekend at the LA County Fair Grounds.

Our Opel was right in the middle of the scene with lots of people talking to us every few minutes throughout the day. And a great day it was, no rain, and not so much sun, we had a great all day event and hit up all our vendors there with success.

So that's about it folks. We are just getting back to the Riverside museum location to start shipping for everyone tomorrow. We know we have some big orders but we will get them cranked out for everyone.

Stay tuned the next few days. We will put out real complete pictures with new parts descriptions and prices. And maybe a few posts for sure to get the best pictures and descriptions one piece at a time.

This month after the matching seat upholstery came the matching headliners complete with pillars and even door panels, both upper and lower, even the ebrake boot. All matching and are new, really superior premade interior kits. Just call and ask 909-355-OPEL(6735).

Most of these items are in stock on a regular basis.

Hope you are all having a great time as the weeks approach spooky Halloween times. Remember for sure that there will not be a Opel OctoberFeast this year. We will be putting all of our efforts in to the International Opel Picnic and Festival the second weekend of June 2016. We look forward to seeing you all there and are still looking for volunteers to help create a fun event.

Weekly Wrap Up October 25, 2015

Weekly Wrap Up October 25, 2015

A ghostly Boo going out to everyone in the Opel community. Here is Part 4 of the New Parts for 2015 Sale.

So far we have shown you 20 pieces in Part 1, 29 pieces in Part 2 and 18 pieces in Part 3. Which gives us a total of 67 new pieces. We are not done by any means, with this current sale and these pictures for Part 4 will show off another aspect of Opel goodies that we sell.

All exclusive for this year. It has been a great year for us. One of our best ever. And now we are going to show off over 30 new pieces currently on sale for as long as 2015 lasts.

We already have our theme for next year in 2016. We are holding it back now, so keep posted. It's a really good direction for all of us, especially the Museum.

So now here are many of our new products we have managed to make for this year. Some of these parts were made up by us, others were imported, others came in from around the world.

Most of these parts are reproductions and polyurethane and offer a really inexpensive alternative to original NOS or factory bushings.

Don't get us wrong, original products are great and have been our number one seller this year. There are many areas that these parts can be applicable and this sale, Part 4, adds many new parts to this years inventory.

As you can see these are already in our new bin system that is currently going in our Museum as one of our hands on systems. This is keeping our inventory the sharpest it has ever been and turn around time to ship orders instantly on the spot is currently better than ever before.

OK so tonight you get the pictures and the announcement. Next time we will put out the parts descriptions and prices, all in a row, just like it is going out currently to all the OEC club members and email database as well. If you don't get our special sales and updates each week, contact us and get yourself signed up. email opelsunlimited@excite.com or call 909-355-OPEL(6735).

Again, just a reminder there will be no Opel OctoberFeast this year. We trust you have all made plans with your friends and family. See you all in June 2016 for the International Opel Festival and Picnic.

Weekly Wrap Up November 14, 2016

Hey Folks here it is after midnight again. After a really great week, over 15 packages sent out, oh yes of course multiple pieces, but this time it was door glass for GT at $45, a Kadett Wagon Center Glass with hinge $65, two nice Manta front fenders, no damage and rust at $100, a windshield for a GT at $100, well that was just the beginning. Multiple orders, 15+ huge boxes, even an engine making it to the hillbilly dyno test stand, all in one week.

Even an insurance accident and some common repairs, it feels great to help so many people in such a short period of time.

Also some big moves going on at the Rialto Warehouse. Another big stash of goodies made it's way to the Opel Museum in Riverside. With everything unloaded the OU crew has to say it has been a really great week.

Our new parts inventory is now in a word GINORMOUS. All of the new parts and reproduction parts offered as well as our traditional always available largest new original and NOS parts inventory in the United States.

With so many new original parts in stock our options are endless and our prices can't be beat on any part for any model in the US guaranteed. Just compare and ask, but you all know this already.

We put out two Christmas Sales in detail so far and we know we all owe you the rest of the Poly bushing sale as well as our best new exclusive offers listing.

We will try to have all this out there in the next times weekly wrap up.

Until next time - Take Care and Happy Winter Opeling.
