Unanswered: need some dimensions for a 30 ne motor +
i need length (excluding fan ) total width ( carb and injection if poss ) engine/head widths heights from bottom of sump to rocker cover and total heights for carb and injection set ups length from bell to shifter on a man box many thanks all this because one area i go to has brought in an emission zone that costs $200 / day to drive a diesel van in so just when i have frankensprinter running nice with its engine i have to start looking for a gas engine now

Cured ??
Hmmm - Opelitis NEVER rests!
I have a 12v one to pick up here sometime but not soon - still to be paid for! The 12v motor is a far more reliable one than the 24v ... and heaps less expensive to fix and buy parts for!

Q more for rally bob
Q more for rally bob
any idea on what a 2.2 or 2.4 can be made to make on torque numbers with some work (and what ) i can get carb or injection no problem base engine would more than likely come from an opel/vauxhall frontera 4X4 so would not be tuned much to start with not bothered about hp need grunt would be going in a panel van with a 3.7 diff gear box is free right now but i would be going for some thing 5 speed merc or ford from vans with an adapter as a start point as the shifter comes out of the top of the box

Puffer!
The 2.4L CIH is already a 'grunt' motor and increasing torque by appreciable amounts can best be done by supercharging!
2.4L = 146 CID and rule of thumb shows about 1 lb-ft of torque per cubic inch so the best a naturally aspirated 2.4L can do is around 150 lbs-ft You could esily make 200-220 lbs-ft with around 10psi of boost with a mechanically driven supercharger - like one from a Toyota Estima.
