Maybe with a "collector car/antique status" you might squeak by, but I would take a close look at what the requirements are for your state. Taking that kind of car from one state to another is another issue. Sorry for raving. Gary is right. I think a lot of us would be more interested if it had a title.

It really depends on your local laws. When I purchased my GT the title was lost in transport (from Florida) and I discovered that here in Iowa all you need is a bill of sale and they will issue a title on the spot.

From what I understand, all states have provisions for lost titles.
Check with your DMV before purchasing. It's probably a lot easier than you think.

My "Gray market" Senator came with a valid CA title. The P.O. who had a residence in Germany and LA brought it over and paid to have it converted to "U.S. DOT specs". The conversion basically consisted of adding side marker lights from a Toyota, adding "Unleaded fuel only" stickers and welding 1 1/2 inch channel iron in the bumpers. (I don't know if the catalytic converter was standard or added in CA) but it passed CA emissions. All that work and dollars resulted in stickers being added to the door frame and glove box stating that it met DOT specs. With the CA title, I was able to get a MA title for it and I'm driving it daily.
All MA vehicles need a valid title. In RI vehicles older than 10 years do not. Apparently the law in CT is similar. Not sure about the other New England states, |

The person who won has also bid in the "Business & Industrial > Refrigeration & Ice Machines" auctions several times. Does that clue anyone?

Not me, I'm pinching pennies waiting to see if I'm moving soon. I also already have too many Opels and my feedback rating is 15 times as high as the winning bidder....

Rekord-C- und Commodore-A-Forum :: Thema anzeigen - US Diplomaten-Opel aufgetaucht!
Car went to Staunton VA. I think this guy immigrated quite some time ago to the US and also bought a very clean restored Rekord C from Germany or Austria. The buyer is looking for information on the original owner who took it to the US, reportedly a German ambassador. Speaking of the Commodore: By end of the year the GS/E hardtop model will be available as a composite plastic model from Revell in 1:18 scale in colors red and white. http://www.revell.de/de/produkte/fer...RTN=09027&sp=1 Last edited by GS2.8; 04-12-2009 at 02:16 PM. |
