I have a 1962 Opel Rekord Coupe' which I bought on German Ebay and had shipped over. I've been rebuilding a 2001 Mercedes which I bought as a wreck, and I just wanted to work on something which a mortal human can understand. As I've said before, I had a '61 Rekord which I bought nearly new in '61, but the Coupe' appealed to me due to its rarity. According to the title, this car has had eleven owners, but the tires look like they could be original. I'm anxious to really start work on the Rekord, but first I MUST finish the Mercedes. Bill

My husband and I bought a 1959 Rekord 2 door a week ago. It was once a race car in the 1960's and then spent several years in a field here in California, or so I was told. It has a 383 Chevy in it. It needs alot of work to get it on the road but we are excited to hopefully soon be able to drive it.

60 p1
I just replaced my 59 P1 that was destroyed in a building fire ten years ago with a 60 P1 this summer. Basically the same car from 57 through 60. Spent the summer rebuilding the brakes, got to drive it once before having to put it away for winter! Sill need front fenders, does anyone have them, especially the driver's side.

I routinely watch German Ebay for Opel P2 things. So, I just went and did a search for P1 fenders. There are currently two on there.
Opel P1 P2 Rekord Olympia 1200 Kotflügel Rechts Blech bei eBay.de: Oldtimer-Teile (endet 15.11.09 20:00:23 MEZ) Opel Rekord P1 rechter gebrauchter originaler Kotflügel bei eBay.de: Oldtimer-Teile (endet 16.11.09 20:29:52 MEZ) Unfortunately for you, these two are both for the passenger side. In case you can't read German, there are websites which will do rough translations for you. You copy the German text and paste it into the translate box and choose the languages you are working with. I sometimes use Alta Vista Babel Fish for a quick translation. Yahoo! Babel Fish - Text Translation and Web Page Translation Good luck. Bill |

Matz Autoteile in Germany has a lot of P1 & P2 parts: http://www.matz-autoteile.de/test/in...kord_p1_p2.pdf
For a full translation, paste that link into Google's translator: Google Translate and you end up with this |

Texas '61 Rekord PII . . .
I bought a '61 Rekord PII, an Arizona car a few years ago, when gas was around $4.00 a gallon for the cheap stuff, and just before Pete bought his Rekord! Fairly decent condition, in storage at Rodney's currently and yet to be restored.

P-model fenders in good used condition turn up from time to time, but NOS are very rare and go for something like 500 Euros, if Matz would have some they'd be even more. Overseas shipping shouldn't be cheap either.
Just got a really good one for spare for my 62 P2 2dr.1700 (GM Suisse built) for 160 Euros including a good trim piece from a private party at a swap meet. They usually go for around 250-300. |

When I was at the old Opel parts exchange at Russelsheim in September, I picked up a list of P2 parts which Horst Walter has available. It runs nine pages long and includes 350 or so items. Some are NOS and some are reproductions. I assume that he has a similar list for P1 as well. At Russelsheim he had five NOS P1 hubcaps at 55 euros each, not exactly cheap, but if you need them badly enough.... His email is horst@walter-lauffen.de. I would not hesitate to contact him in English as his English was excellent. I picked up some other people's cards as well. I'll try to dig those out and post the contact information for them as well. Bill

Have you seen the Craigs List listing which includes an Opel P 1 without engine or transmission? It is in central MO, about 185 miles from me. The stated price is $200. If the fenders are in decent condition, it would be a cheap source of parts. Over Thanksgiving I will be traveling within maybe 25 miles of where the car is. If you are interested, maybe I could take a quick look at it. Bill
