Unanswered: fitting a 2.2 cih to rekord coupe 69

Hello
Im planning to fit a 2,2 rekord e engine to a 1969 rekord.
At the moment i have under the hood 3.0 and a 5 speed from Monza
can i use that gearbox with 2.2 engine?
Is there any point to but a 1.9 engine head to a 2.2
also im planning to use 3.0 engine intake and FI.
Is there anything else to take from 3.0 engine?
The reason is ,that it is illegal to but 3.0 ,so i have to change it
to 2.2.
Does anyone have any comments about 2.2 engine with 5 speed getrag
or should i use original autotrans (i bought the car with all things).
My plan is to use the car as a summer daily driver.
I have also original 1.9 engine somewhere, but i think it is to weak??

Thanks all

If I'm guessing right, your Rekorde is running a 3litre on injection already.

I don't see how you can run the 3litre injection loom as this will have 6 injectors rather than the 2.2's 4 injector set up, surely it will be best to run the 2.2injection loom. You should get away with only using the injection side of the loom and then use a dizzy from a 1.9 or 2.0 or you'll have the joys of wiring the 2.2 dizzy side of the loom with all it's sensors. You can use the 3litre inlet and cut the back two chambers off, this is reputed to flow much better than the 2.2 manifold. BTW one went on ebay.de last week for 135 Euros

As for the gearbox...Mmmm not sure, I thought is was a bigger unit and if you convert to Automatic you might not need to alter the prop length.

As for the head the 2.2 is better than the 1.9, due to bigger valves so why create more work?

Seems a real shame to have to bin the 3litre, why is it illegal?

I just bought a 84 rekord with 2.2 and autotrans.
I plan to swap it to my rekord.
It is illegal, because the laws in estonia are stupid. It is not alowed to change to a biger engine than 30% more HP. and 20% cc, 10% weight.
Btw i paid for the hole car les than 135 $.
So it is possible to take 3 liter intake manifold and set 2.2 injectors and all
the necessary wiring??

You mean this one?

2.2/2.4 not only have bigger valves, but much improved "raised" intake ports to go along with the bigger valves.
