Unanswered: Chevrolet Opala ( Ey )

I got confused when I found this picture online. It is supposed to be a brazilian Cab. Based on the Opel Rekord 1968-72. Seems to be a Rekord B or C but the butt is different. Any any idea if the really rebadged the car as an Chevy Opala?
I have seen Opel Rekord A's in Mexico (white car) -- they kept the Opel name their.
Is there any way to get somekind of model map for the Americas collected to see what Opel products have been sold as Opels and where they had to give up or butcher their name like in this instance?

I am interested in the pre 80's models not the new Corsas etc that carry the Chevy badge..

Portugese anyone?

Thanks. I checked a bit further into these Opel Impala's - the initial models are definitely americanized Rekord C's with some Chevy flavors. There are Kadett models as well as Diplomat versions and quite some clubs that love them.

Anyone speak Portugese here to help finding answers on:

What models match the US opel era?

Are there unique technical features (other than design) on the Opala.

Does the Opala Club in Rio have a tradition of inviting US Opel lovers to the carnaval and Opala meet?

Just found out:

Opala is the Hawaian word for garbage.

That's just as bad as the name of the Toyota merde (MR2)...

greetings apassens. i know portuguese very well, but not english !

-> in brazil the cars manufactured by chevy in fact are mostly opels, since opala wich was the first passager car made by chevy here. before that just trucks. today the cars follow the same nominations of german factory; corsas, astras, merivas, etc...

we call chevettes, the old kadetts of 70´s and 80´s, but in the 90´s the name changed to kadett.

we call monzas, the 80´s opel asconas.

"diplomata" in brazil is just a diferent version of luxury of opala. theres the basic opala, the opala comodoro and the opala diplomata - the top luxury since 84 i gess. also there was a gt version called opala ss, with many racing features. the opala´s sw is also called caravan and also there was a caravn ss.

the main diference of opalas and rekord c´s in the begining was the engines and some design features. also some adaptations for local market.

the engines of chevy opala are the 2.5l 4 cylinder and the "seis canecos" 6 in line 4.1l.

the style features, some modifications in the engines parts, console, seats, wheels, etc... are unique from opala in brazil, from 1968 to 1992. but the structure and the engine blocks remained mostly the same.
