I have a universal windshield mount rear view mirror in my GT.
The only problem that I have with it is that it is too wide, - even though it is the narrowest that I could find.

If your purpose is to have a nice mirror because your old one has become blotchy, look for something called replacement mirror at your auto store. It is a mirror on an acrylic sheet that you cut and glue to the original for a like new mirror.

J C Whitney sells a dandy curved mirror that attaches over your current mirror allowing you to see practically everything behind you in all lanes and even to the sides.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. Although the mirror glass is a little blotchy, it is the crumbling black plastic opposite the mirror side which is bothering me. I looked at one from a '82 bmw 320i - it was about the right size, but wrong mount (snaps into a large rectangular hole). I was just wondering if someone has scoured the junkyards and found an oem replacement... jtb |

65' Mustang Mirror
I bought a mirror for a 65' Mustang an the fits almost perfectly the two of the three screws line up except the third one is off by about 1-2mm. I liked the polished look and the way it seems to point forward. I flipped the mirror and attched it upside down to the mounting arm to bring it up a bit.
I bought the kit pictured here: 65' Mirror Part KIT-MIR-1 $35.00 not cheep but preatty. Here is the best picture a found on my computer(not a great one)

I've got one with decent plastic, fair glass. Yours for the shipping if it will get through to Canada. I hunted done one for the same reason, plastic disintegrated on the back. At least I think one of my spares is good, now I better go look before I promise something I ain't got.

Has anyone tried to use a modern stick to the windshield RV mirror? I'd like to find a way to move it closer to the headliner and improve my sight lines. It seems like the original is right in my way, to big and to low. I thought about trying to shorten the stem but I can't see how and still be able to pivot the mirror.

I don't know which car the short ones come out of but I have a short stem that I used in my GT. All the other mirrors that I have are long stem ones, so yes there were at least two different lengths available.
