Group Buy of NEW CIH Head Bolts (Thread Closed, go to New Thread)

I found a fellow in the UK that sells new, aftermarket head bolts. He has 100 (one hundred!) sets of head bolts for the CIH-Six from the Opel Omega. Each set has 14 bolts (7 long and 7 short) versus the 10 we need for our CIH-Four. They are the correct triple-square, Grade 10.9 OEM-style head bolts, versus the less desirable Allen-head, Grade 8.8 (one or two torques and throw them away) versions. He was asking £14.99 (about $30 USD) plus shipping for each set on a Buy It Now (they're on eBay.UK, at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT)

I don't believe they are readily available anymore, although the OEM bolts can be used many times before they are susceptible to stretch. He is getting me a price for a Group Buy, of at least 10 sets. That is enough bolts for 14 engines. I would like to know if there is any interest in these bolts. The price should be no more than $20 USD for the required 10 bolts, plus shipping. And that is the real wrinkle, as shipping can be steep on items from the UK. If you have any suggestions of the "best" way to ship, please let me know.

One way to cut costs further would be for one of our Brit members to act as a go-between to eliminate the secondary shipping cost (Canada to the US is also a bit pricey). I would be willing to front the cost to expedite the process, so long as I don't lose my shirt.

Please respond if you think this has merit, if you are interested, and if you have ideas for shipping. And if you speak with a funny accent and have the time to become a bolt warehouse.

TIA

To make it easier for me to track what folks want, please fill in your order using the "poll" choices above. If you want to see what others have ordered, just click on the "number" in one of the poll selections

I would take a set.

I can't imagine a few sets of bolts would be that much to ship though.

Keith, Put me down for 1 set, and let us know where to send the money to. Baz, would you like to act as a go-between? Thanks, Jarrell

I could use a set, also. Just tell us where to send money. I know there are a few of us that fly back and forth to England. Maybe one could carry them back for us? Just a thought.
Thanks, Mike

... and Jim "swoops" in and buys four sets. Hmm, that is enough for 5.6 engines. Are you doing part of an engine Jim?
Of course you are welcome to buy these directly. But I saw a couple sets sell through the regular auction process for £4.99 (about $10 USD) and he says he will give a substantial discount on a bigger order. Jim, did you get a break in the price?

Why don't we set up a date to come up with a final number. Contact the seller and see what kind of group buy price we can come up with and put a deadline on payment + shipping cost to the States. Then we can get our money to a designated "volunteer" and get this show on the road. I am not in a great hurry for the bolts but at least I can have a date to work with. I know that if I don't have some timeline then I put things on the back burner and they become less important.
Thanks, Mike
