Unanswered: High Shear Strength Bolts

Hey all,

I am looking for 1/2" fasteners for coilover shocks that have higher shear strength than grade 8. (These will be loaded in double shear.) I have run across references to MS14181 fasteners but have not yet run down any PN tables or sources. Any help/advice on these or any other high shear strength fasteners would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Mark B.

Mark, check out your local airport mechannics. See if you can come across bolts that will go to the flght control surfaces or the push-pull rods. They are high rated shear bolts as opposed to high compression bolts. They also may be able to check out their hardware books and come up with a valid part number. HTH.

mil spec bolts

Try this place.
UFC Aerospace Corp.
I know they stock some of these. Their website is not great, but if you call they can probably send spec pages to you with part numbers, etc.
