The only picture I have of a custom upper arm on a Manta is here.
But some other members have posted pictures as well, mostly on GT's. This winter I will be building custom upper and lower tubular arms for a Manta, but I have nothing but design sketches right now. Bob

Thank you Bob !
It was not the picture I was thinking of, but its something like that I will try to do this winter. I will will copy some of the nice work that you have done to the crossmember and suspension, if its fine for you ![]() I have allso seen pics where you have mounted coilover shocks USD. Have you planned to use coilover springs aswell ? I have done some measurements on my sellholm coilovers and I can't find any room for them in the front end.... (the diameter, not the length) /Staffan |

Hi Bob !
How are things going with your coilover front end ? It would be nice to see some pics of your work. I have done some thinking of my own, and made some parts for both upper and lower arms. I will try to make the upper shock mounts as you showed on pics earlier. A question about them, is there space to adjust the spring tension with the shock in place or do you have to take it out ? Here is some pictures of my attempt...... As you can see the angel of the upper arm is wrong, so now I have bent them upwards. (no pics of that yet) Please comment and give me improvements

One thing concerns me greatly. The upper ball joint has been turned 'sideways' on the upper a-arm. Many upper ball joints are designed to move in one direction only, otherwise they will bind and may bend or break. If you remove the rubber boot on the ball joint, you can see if there is 'slot' which the joint travels within, which guides the direction.
I have personally not worked on the tubular a-arm project for some time. Too many other things to work on right now.

As usual you are right again
![]() I checked the balljoint today, and yes, there are a slot. But with the travel I have in mind there would not be any trouble. However I will try to turn the balljoint 90 degrees to be sure. |
