GTJIM will become famous soon enough
Perhaps ...

Could we use digitised images of the actual badges from the GT to get "OPEL" and "GT" Then saw the front off a Commodore badge for the "COM" bit ...

i think this could be done. but it will require high res photo's with good contrast. so i can "extract" the letters by using "levels" in photoshop.

i have opel already photographed, that is the letters that go on the back. only thing we would need is com and GT

I would have to agree that reply #16 looks like the best idea . Opel font would look great on the window sticker .

That was my idea too. I was thinking of one like this without the Blitz. White seems to be the best color. Show's up well. works with all car colors. That was what I priced out.

GT letters

I happen to have the GT letters - here's a bmp file, the original is in autocad.

The graphic in post #16 is the most easily readable and understandable, especially to a non-opeller, IMHO.

I agree and like the Opel GT.com all in one line rather than split up. Post 16 is great. Maybe do post 16 only in the Opel font.

I was also thinking maybe some people would like a regular sticker. Unfortunetly i am currently without an Opel and my daily is a S-10 with smoked windows. No one would see a window stiker if I put it in the window. I would like to show my support for Opels and Opel.com though...

Cool

Is there some way to take the "OPEL" letters and put them into the shape of a GT? Then you could have the letters shaped like the car followed by GT.Com

I like # 16 too except that I would like to see the ends of the blitz pointy like on the Opels from the '60 and '70's, not blunted as the modern Opels have on them. If I'm being too picky, please let me know.

I am not having very good luck making the "OPEL" for the sticker. I am stuck between 2 choices, the Opel like on the side of the car, and the Opel on the Dash Badge. I found this.. it's a little more plain but it kind of resembles what we want.

That font looks good. i scanned the opel letters for utopia website, you can check on utopia.opelgt.com i put them on a red background and i exctracted the letters. onl, those letters you have need to be much much bigger. but that could be done by drawing them on paper like original. and then scan in 1200dpi or something. then we wouuld have very nice letters. maybe someone could make the .com too from scratch since there is opelgt already written, it shouldn't be that hard to do. and that way it would look awesome!

I agree #16, with the "Z" bolt extended and pointed on the ends, would look more like a lightning bolt. Simular to the GT nose emblem!
My 2 cents.

I like the one in #16 also. It is very retro style. What size are we looking at for the sticker? the one in 16 needs to be at least 4" tall I think.

The O in opel must be there. It is difficult enough explaining what an Opel is. Without the O spelled out people will be asking what's a PEL?

I was thinking of something like this picture. Of course it would say "Opel GT. com" You would have your choice of inside or outside. It has worked very well for the BMW club and looks real nice. I was thinking of using white as the color. I am putting together a few of the ideas on here, and letting everyone vote. Stay tuned. as they say" film at eleven"

my 2 cents worth

At one point in my life I owned a vinyl graphics/screen printing/embroidery company. The glass on any car when you step back looks black. So white and silver looks great and stands out well. Yellow, red, royal and lighter colors look ok, but hard to match car colors and clash. Anything darker just looks black anyway. An inside sticker seems to get hidden in sun and lights reflecting on the glass. As for points... as long as the point is not too sharp it is ok, but if you are not careful a point gets caught on your rag when cleaning and will peel the decal off. You can make a point with a slight rounded corner and no one knows the difference.

I think it is a great idea and I will buy some no matter what they look like.

16 looks great to me too, proper font would naturally make it better. Anything can be done in autocad and then exported to a .eps format which can then be imported into photoshop for final editing.

Here is another idea. It took me about 30 minutes in paint, but you get the idea. It could be any bright color (recommended) and the logo could be any font that we all agree upon. I hope it attaches anyway.

I also have the "blitz" in my rear window that is fairly large that I bought at a car show earlier this year. I could have bought in any color, but I chose orange. This really stands out and every one asks why I have a lighting bolt in my window. Of course I have to tell them that it is not a lighting bolt, but the Opel Blitz logo. Well, you guys know the rest of the questions we all get.

I still like number 16 better tho this one isn't bad either. The "balance" of the overall design seems off and the "bolt" needs to taper a bit at the ends, but overall a good second choice.

Could another option be the Opel blitz with "Ascona", "Manta", "GT", "Kadett" or "Sport Wagon" underneath the blitz? I am referring to design #2 (post 47). It would promote OpelGt.com and allow us none GT owners to personalize our cars just a bit more. JMTCW

All of them look neat, but, IMHO, you need longer legs on the horizontals on the blitz emblem. The ones shown are for the newer models and just don't appear to be right for our year cars.
