Web Pages for Local Opel Clubs
Should I look into it further so all our clubs would have more than just a forum page? |

Would the clubs be responsible for the design their 'index' page or would you have to do that . . . you've already got a lot on your plate, is all!

Wouldn't this make the forum more segmented?...
How much do you want to break it down? JM2cW

Otto - All managed by the program.
Rob - Good point. It looks like there is no "forum" just a page that has a lot of features. The blog part is where you can post a message. See the attachments. Just checking to see if the various clubs want some more visibility and have their photos & events in one place. First pic is the "Clubs Home page". Second is one of an individual club. |

I like it where a treaded post for a subject or group is on the reg forum.
we see all and hear all. feel more like a the supper table with a 12 conversations going and you see what different groups are doing and may just be in the area. Rob

![]() However, I can see where being able to have a site specific to a club would be of benefit to the club. I don't care to see their minutes, treasurer's report, bylaws, etc..., but I wouldn't want it to take away from other parts of this site such as classified ads, forums, photos, member lists, etc... Can this be done without promoting the scattering of the good information? An enhancement without duplicating the wheel. |

Keep The Family Together
Gary,
I'm with Rob and Bullmoose. Don't bust the family up, I like everyones business up close and in my face. Not in another web page. I stand with the folks from the north and mid west (Canada/Kansas)!!!

If it is just limited to events and pics, that would be great! I don't think any discussion boards would be wise, even for directions or what to bring. Too easy to segment the site, even unintentionally.
Slippery slope is all.

I think that as long as the main area didn't change that supplimental pages for each club could be a very nice feature. If there were meets with organized pics, and reviews, club specific rosters with member profiles, etc in addition to the main area then that might be nice.
Also, I'd just like to say that if the Mods have too much on their hands as, that this forum has fewer Mods than any of the other sites that I have been on or are currently on. Perhaps "Mini-Mods" could handle just the club sections or assistant mods could help with the club sections.

Another forum I am on quite a bit uses this feature. The plus is that you can go to one place to see who is active in your area and see what events are coming up for your area without having to search through all of the site's threads. So, from that standpoint, I think it is a good idea. On a related note, is there a way to simply set up a list of members from your area at least (even if we don't implement club pages)? Right now, anytime I see a post by someone in Georgia, I add them to my Buddy List which is the only way I know who is active in my area (besides the member map of course but not everyone is on there).

One thing you can do, provided the person fills in ALL their info, is to click on the "Newest Member" link and see where they are. If from GA then, as you say, add them to your buddy list

I think that the little forum place for the Opel clubs should be enough for the clubs, what I mean is that there is not much posting there on a regular basis for a separate web page inside a web page, keep it like it is, every body has all they want right here, a place :
1: to put photo's 2: to chit chat 3: to wright some humor 4: to ask and give tech info 5: to sell, buy and trade 6: to announce meetings, national and/or local 7: to forum on a local level in side the forum just my € 0.02 worth

I believe that some of my desires for this feature come from the fact that as long as I've known the link to the OANA Southern Chapter has not worked. Ken Litkey doesn't come around that much any more, so it understandable. Also, I understand that the OANA is either officially defunct or pretty much impotent.

Case in point
A couple days ago I responded to a thread called "How is Everyone." Today I notice it now says "How is everyone in Utah". This prompted me to go back a little further in the postings and realize the thread was originally directed for the UTOPIA group in Utah. Had there been a separate area for the clubs, I would assume this forum wouldn't have shown up in the recent postings for the site, and myself and many others would have never posted and annoyed. However, it also teaches about the fine art of clear and descriptive titles in the thread's name.
Not that I'm being an evangelist for the separate club area idear, but I think having one would help to categorize the postings one more step, and make it easier to negotiate all the information available. JMTC

Me too . . .
Actually, your referenced thread was "how is eveyone" and I raised the same issue - who is this addressed to - very early in the thread . . . post #4, as a MOF.
