    GT's ? with the Targa I now have a 69, 71, 72 & 73 I would love a 68 and can always find a 70 to complete the set. I had one but sold it
'69 has been in the family since early 70's but is rusted badly yet runs like new. The Black 73 I bought in 74 for $2400 and is the one that went to OMC 25 and now lives in AZ. The 72 is supposed to become a V8
I have the 2 - 2 door 1900's, one for NY and one for AZ but need a Sportwagon

    Motor Mouths Update

Well I had a look on here and noticed that back in 2003 I was the 5 or 6th person to post a thread on here.

Nearly 2yrs have passed and so it's only far that I give you an update, so here goes:

In 2004 i broke another '69 for spares.
In 2005 i owned a '68......which generated a fair amount of interest when it came on the market. It turned out that this car was the 3rd oldest on the German Opel GT register,
In 2006 (as of yesterday) I've just agreed to buy a '72 GT.

So there you have it....I've had a full house of GT's 68-73!
    Mark
I used to have an Opel....now i have a collection
69 GT 2.5 FI, Getrag, Irmscher Big Brakes, LSD, Lowered, 8" & 8.5" BBS RM's, Leather.....ex Dealer Opel Team

I wonder if we should do another poll that reads:

How Many GT's do you have that are/will be put on the road?

    and

How many GT's do you KNOW have been crushed or will NEVER be put on the road?
    Steve

    I own a 1900 s in a porsche 924 body

I picked up a 1977 prosche that had a 1.9 L Opel engine in it. I was unable to id the year of the engine until I researched it in this community. The only ID I had on the engine was the engine serial number of 19s-1136264. From the posts here I determined it is a 1972 or 1973 1900 engine. This will help me get parts for the engine.

    Yeah you're right Lyle,
I've got four GT's in my garage, so that makes at least 580 GT's left!

    1) early 1969 Rallye Red with flat rear panel and missing split front bumper (Vin # falls within the range but P.O. removed it!) complete with 13" Fenton SS mags, trailer hitch and a mysterious (likely bogus) gold plaque on the dash that reads "Opel GT Special Edition".

    2) 1969 GT Metallic Green w tan interior Italian Spec GT complete with all the original Italian/Euro equiptment such as: side repeater blinkers, halogen headlights and driving lights, "H" cylinder head, electric windshield washer, no rear side markers, non-laminated windshield, KPH speedometer, front & rear sway bars, etc.

    3) 1971 Rallye Gold GT with beige interior. Rear axle has factory sway bar mounting points. Needs to have the driverside fender and headlamp mounting points repaired after a P.O.'s botched attempts of collision repair.

    4) early 1973 Strato Blue GT with black interior. Comes with ARA Air Conditioning and the original solex carb still attached as well as the original version of the taillights. Now if I could just figure out what connected the carb to the relocated air cleaner near the battery!

    5) last but not least (but not a GT) is my recently acquired 1973 Manta Blue Max which will need most of the interior replaced corduroy, carpet, headliner, as well as the vinyl roof - pretty much anything not made of metal!

Jonzo, that's too many for one guy!
With that many you can have your own Zephyrhills car meet!

    I was thinking maybe 10,000 - 15,000 GT's left in the world?
Gil at OpelGT source might have a better guess.

    Jonzo,
The original ARA AC kit had a 5-6' length of wire-reinforced, rubber-coated fabric flex hose that connected the solex carb air inlet to the relocated stock air cleaner in the nose of the car. The diameter of the hose was such that you just mashed the ends of the hose into an oval and they slid right over the carb inlet opening and the air cleaner outlet.

It effectively takes the place of the stock short-rubber connector and uses the same clamps as the stock hose. The hose went from the carb, through the hole in the passenger side of the radiator bulkhead and then to the air cleaner.

Which begs the question: Where can I find one now?
It sounds like the one item from a GT that I have never seen, let alone seen for sale!

Jonzo, you might try NAPA or an auto a.c. shop. I think that you have probably seen this type of hose before, as it was commonly used as an underdash heater and defroster distribution hose in cars for many years. This was a tan fabric cover, but I have seen them in metal foil as well. They kinda resemble the flexible home heating ducts being used now.

The circumference of the carb cover opening is 9 inches, so you probably need an ~ 3" OD hose. You need the spiral wire reinforcement in it to keep it from collapsing under acceleration.

    # of GTs per year

I've had the same 1973 GT since it was new. It always was the "spare" in the family after 1980 when I retired it. When the kids were done it sat in my garage for 7 years, (being started every once in a while.) I just restored it in 2004-05. Of course, it's always a work-in-progress . . .

As I have see and have read many time Opels have a tendency to multiply in the dark depths of the restoration garage.

    Larry

    2 - 1973 Gt's

But I believe that one GT, of my pair, may be ready to hatch another GT.
