Louvers
I will vote yah- the window in the rear is square, so how would they mess up the lines? Anyways I like louvers, and I like the fact you can take them off for different looks. Also you could put side louvers on the car. I put mine on every so often, and then sometimes I run the car without them. Even look good body color at times

I do not think that louvres are breaking the car lines in any way although the opinion on aesthetical appearance is individual and personal thing. I had a chance to see some home made louvres with arguable styling.
Personally, I like the rear window louvres. They make nice shade inside the car and do not restrict visibility to the rear. |

Depends on the look that your going for and how they are presented. Stock, the GT is a good looking car. They look good on an unmodified body like PJ's. Rodney's look good body color on his modified body. I really like the way that they look on a Manta though and hope that one day that I can either find a nice metal set or make a set.

I vote yes, or yay, as they keep the interior cooler, don't let the back deck material get cooked, and to me they look great on a GT. I have a set on my GT

Here in Texas, we grow big live oaks to shade our properties. I appreciate the cooling of the louvers, and with the OGTS set, they complete my slightly modified look. In addition, the louvers really make the third brake light, on my rear deck, more vivid.

I put the OGTS louvers on my car and still can't decide if I like them or not. I am torn between the look with and without them. I am also a little concerned about adding the possibility of a leak and/or rust since they mount under the window rubber and will allow water to enter where it would not if they were not installed. Because of the small space created the water will wick its way right in there and then will evaporate very slowly.

I like the louvers on my red car with the blacked out tail panel. The black louvers continues the black accents. I would not like them on my pink car as it would not fit the color scheme.

Yay for rear louvers (not a big fan of the side ones as I think they affect visibility). Louvers are a neat "period" accessory that can be easily removed or put back on... like a hat! They definitely keep things cooler inside, too. Plus, they help a teensy bit by obscuring your parcel shelf from prying eyes.

Rear Window Louvers
Totally enjoy mine...ordered from OGTS...very happy with them...little bit of black caulk will keep the O2 out...takes a little time but really works good...I think totally adds some excitement to the overall design of the GT

I like louvers, I have a set, but there are 2 sets on ebay now and I think they are priced way to high.

Opel windows don't provide the best of visibility so can't see obstructing it any more.... Wanna be able to see everything to stay out of a lurking lunatics way!

There is a red one for sale on the German Ebay right now. It is doing 1 Euro ($ 1.30) at this moment with one day to go. Probably a different kind of taste here in Europa, it seems only a few people like them overhere. To be honest I don't fancy them either, so Nay for me. I can imagine however that under the blistering sun it cools your interior in a great way.

Yes for louvers.
Negatory on the side louvers (blind-spot visibility and appearance). I bought an aluminum set YEARS (decades?) ago and have not put them on my current GT yet (probably this summer when I hope to get it painted), but they are supposed to flip up for cleaning the rear window and should be easily removed if you want. Sounds like maximum flexibility to me. I also think that the aluminum louvers might look better and thinner, less bulky with more sharply defined edges, than the plastic ones but in the photo's posted here they look good too. The rear deck vinyl in the GT's I had in the past really took a beating from the sun. Shading is a very important thing in the summer especially with a black interior. It would also help prolong the life of the interior. They also look good to me and as someone else said they add something to the apprearance. They are consistent with a 1970's car while not harming the appearance and design. They are one of the "advanced" options you could have on a sporty car like retractable headlights that fit in witih the era. And if you get bored with it you can remove them. I think that the view in the mirror through the louvers could be neat too. They might also reduce some glare. Last edited by BDD; 02-07-2009 at 10:45 AM. |

Yay
I love the look of louvres. Not all cars can pull it off but it definently makes a car look hot. I hope to purchase a set some day for my gt. They also look great on vettes especially the 70s era.
