I would kill the chat room and add this program.

I have uploaded a demo of the program and you can see my Garage Here. I didn't get too fancy with it and there are a couple of things that need to be worked out.

If some of the more adventurous members figure out how to add their Opel, be advised that this is a demo and all garages may be deleted if/when we got to a full version. BTW, this demo only allows for one garage/one car per member.

Cool Gary - I just tested it out with basic info - can't wait for the full version if you decide to add it.

Thanks!

I wouldn't go that far! Chat has been very instrumental in building the closeness and community of Opelers, all the way back to the Yahoo chat days.

I'd prefer not to trade that for a garage program that is essentially just an opportunity to show off my cars. I also think the event and technical photos are more important, if it comes down to one or the other.

The Chat room is not going to go away. The photo gallery is not going to go away. At some point it will need a major clean up though.

This "garage" will just be a page in your profile where where you can post details and photos of your Opel(s).

Thanks Gary. I would really hate to lose chat or the galleries. I'm a heavy user of both.

Then you can change my vote to a yes, because it is a nice feature.

I said the chat room as an example however I would not think twice about it. In the several years I have been a member, I rarely see anyone in it. True you can jump in and have a nice chat but I kinda like to just grab the phone and talk.

Just my 1.314 cents anyway!

The Chat Room useage is pretty time of day dependent. Some of us use it
late at night. I'd hate to lose it.

Todd,
To add a search feature to the photo section would only work about 40% if you added one. Reason being and I am guilty of this.... Many people do not lable their pictures "1972 Manta GT/E" They might put "Car coming Home" or it might be just a sequential number having nothing to do with the pictures description, so a search would bring nothing. If at the start members were required to post a limited description of the cars or parts in the picture, it might of worked out.
I like what we have, I would vote no at this time.

Jeff,
Depending on how you're viewing the site, on the home page there are seven blue buttons at the top, below the banner, that are labeled "Home", "Forums", "Opel Groups", etc. The 7th button is labeled "Opel Garages". When you click that link, it will show you an index of garages.

That was added late last night. The link that goes in the navbar has a neat search feature. I haven't added that yet as the lower bar is too crowded.

Well that's good to know, I was feeling a little more than stupid that I had not noticed that big blue button.
