Feedback needed on Forum Layout

We've changed the layout of the technical Forum so it roughly matches the Factory Service Manual. This will help to keep posts in the proper forum.

Questions;

Does this create confusion because their are too many forums now?

Does(will) it make things easier?

Are their too many Sub-Forums?

Any other suggestions for groupings?

Vote and give us you comments.

feedback

I like it. I think as it gets used and the subforums get filled in it will be easier to use and I do believe there will be some sorting of the old posts, right Gary? At a casual rate? Might could use some help with all that sorting?
I was wondering how the different models get set apart in this FSM forum?

Generally, I leave model-specific questions under the model heading, but only when the question is VERY model-specific. So, a question such as "what to replace the Factory air cleaner on a GT with" might stay under "GT". But a question such as "What aftermarket air cleaner will fit the Weber on my Manta" is general enough to go under "Group 6 Engine / Section C Fuel System". And if you don't know for sure, just try to get close. If you are off the mark, a moderator will swoop in and move it.

I like it!

I think it will make it easier to find things BEFORE you resort to the search mode.

And by the way Gary, That creature is so foul, so cruel that no man yet has fought with it and lived!

Sincerest forum of flattery!

Looks just like our Owners Manuals and Parts Books so we should be able to find our way around easier and even post things in the right place!

Oh, wouldn't THAT be a blessing. But naive, as I have moved three threads already tonight. Oh, to log in one night and read thirty new posts, all in the proper place...

All in due time...That is the "plan", but it will take some effort, and a bit of time.

if "non-moderators" can move them, i'd be more than happy to help on some of my spare time...moving threads around and stuff. the way i see it, i owe something to the site.

Ya all the members could be helpers.... or gremlins

I do like the format, all it needs is a few oil stained pages around the engine and brake headings to make me feel right at home.

yeah, maybe we should just leave it to moderators, too many people involved could really screw it up.

MEMBERS SEARCH

I REALLY LIKE THE FORUM. THE ONLY PROBLEM THAT I HAVE IS IN THE MEMBERS SEARCH AREA. IT WOULD BE QUITE HELPFULL TO US NEW OPELERS IF THERE WAS A SEARCH BY STATE OR LOCATION. BECAUSE OF THE BIG PROJECT THAT I HAVE IT WOULD BE NISE TO MEET SOME MEMBERS, GET ADVICE OR A FEW EXTRA HANDS. I JUST FINISHED MY FIAT, AND THERE IS NOTHING ON THE WEB LIKE THIS FOR FIAT.

Welcome Willie.
The members location is a required field for new members in anticipation of a "sort by location" add-on. Once the new forum version is released, those add-ons will come fast and furious. In the mean time you can go to the Open Discussions forum and post a shout out for nearby Opelers. (we are everywhere!)

Hi Gary,
As someone with a newly acquired GT that hasn't had one in years AND still fairly new navigator of the site I am really pleased with the tech layouts. It's very easy to find what I need and if necessary ferret it out by the subforums. Very nice. Good job.

Thanks Ging, glad you like it.

The credit for the forum layout idea goes to Kwilford and the moderators. Keith also moved most of the threads into their new place.
