Colin McRae, former WRC rally champ, killed in helicopter crash

I know, not really Opel related (although his father Jimmy McRae rallied Manta 400's), but this really hits home to me. He was one of my favorite drivers of all time, right up with Mark Donohue and Henri Toivonen. Totally depressing...

Wayy too young, and not to mention his son was killed in the crash as well.

I was a fan also...and it is terrible loss and for his son to die in the crash must be extremely hard on the family.. I don't know anything about the others that were also killed but they are all in my prayers.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing last night when this story broke. Colin was well known to be a super cautious pilot with his Squirrel helicopter.
I was a big fan of his Dad 'in the day', and I've lost track of the nights in Kielder forest chasing the cars from stage to stage. Colin seemed to inherit his fathers skill (as did his younger brother and sister, who also rally), and I've watched his driving in awe over the years.
A tragic loss.
