...TUNER (TU) – Any three, four or six cylinder vehicle with power adders. Must have stock body and interior. No aftermarket turbo or superchargers. No race cars or trucks allowed. DRAG RADIALS ONLY. No E.T. Streets,
bias ply or special tires.

SPORT COMPACT (SC) – Naturally aspirated foreign and domestic sport compact cars and trucks with three, four
or six cylinders (no diesel and no nitrous) with stock suspension in stock location, stock interior and no cutting of
the body, fender wells or floor pan. HARD TREADED RADIAL tires only. No drag radials, soft compound, bias
ply or special tires. No points championship in this division...

Crud if I put drag radials on the GT the driveline will spill its guts out.
If I go into the SC class then no planned driveline upgrades.
Guess Im going to have to learn how to drive with a soft foot.
Dang I know all the people writing the rules, my boss is one of them.
He knows every problem I'm having with the weak links of the Opel.
Cant wait for Monday so that I can corner him and ask him why no warning.
Ok I feel better now..venting is good for the soul

If you run tuner, could you devise a single cylinder ignition cutout (ground one plug wire) controlled with a rpm signal set to reactivate the dead cylinder after launch?
Or with a manual cockpit switch?
Lose a few horses until you get rolling.
Would it be legal or even help at launch?

Would anyone even know the difference if you used a different rear end and driveshaft? Would they care if you had a Getrag?
What weak link do we worry about now? Ah, the rocker arms.

How about if you run the Tuner class with the drag radials, and use an Opel automatic with a 4500 or so rpm converter? If you load the converter you won't shock the driveline and shouldn't break anything. Plus, the tranny can take more power and abuse than either the stock 4-speed or Getrag 240.

Just a thought.

Humm
Mark has got me thinking..could I use a backwards stutter box to kill some of the power. I'm going to need more info on the edis module.

You could use a reverse polytwist carbon uplink to decrease the output of the edis module and this should decrease the power.... just kidding I have no clue.

"studder box." Didn't realize there was a name for staged engine controls for power. Just read up a bit on google.
Learned something new.

In the words of the famous (or infamous) Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins, "the best way to deal with rules is to have nine things in the gray area, if they make you change 3 then you are ahead. Then change 5 more"

Duh thick headed me.
I could use the "on the fly" ignition map switching function of the mega-jolt controller.
Leave the line on a retarded map, then once rolling switch over to the more aggressive one. Could possibly save the driveline from some of the shock.
Thanks Aardvaark for the hint.
