in the day (many moons ago ) i was in my gt coming from london back to my home (280 mile )and as i joined the main motorway (A1[ freeway]) i slotted in behind 2 cars racing , a ford escort turbo and a volvo 760 turbo, they were doing 110 and with 2 big holes in the air i could keep up but do nothing else
we ran for 40 odd miles like this till at a roundabout the volvo turned off and i got the jump on the escort because of traffic so he starts to come back on me and as he gets level he just shot backwards like he slammed on the brakes but there's smoke everywhere i did the right thing and went back to see if i could help and this guy was sitting there laughing his head off at been blown to bits by a VW beetle kit car (his thoughts because of the 2 tail pipes ) so we left his wife with the car and i drove him back to a rest area to use a phone while we drove he told me his company had given him the escort as his work car and he hated it so he was racing anything he could till it died ,and it had big time (the engine had tried to turn inside out from the looks of the connecting rod i could see) he could not believe the speed the gt did at higher revs but as we all know said its like a tractor to get there

i thought you'd never ask....there is the nice country road that hardly any one uses(its out there a ways).. you just dont want to end up hurting anyone, you know?.. well i've rode in a 1989 camaro iroc z28 while it was blew the doors off a 1994 cavalier 2.2L 5 spd. and the camaro also beat a 1999 cougar. the guy was saying he lost because he spun to long.. a win is still a win.. as far as the opel, you think i'd race my baby? well your right i would, as soon as i get a freaking weber.
i've got this guy in a geo storm that wants to race.... but in my 1993 nissan sentra se-r i beat that 1994 cavalier.. so i guess thats a kill..but what you think it would take to beat the camaro? its a 305 LB9, and the idle control sensor is messed up.. (sometimes it dies while coming down from a high rpm)and it doesnt run the greatest..its an auto too... thats my goal in the opel.. and this isnt gonna be a street race, we are gonna take it up to "bring what ya got night" at the track..

Some Idea
Good thinking Billy - racing in the right place at the track has got to be lots safer for everyone!
To get some idea of 1/4 mile times have a look at www.tciauto.com as they have a calculator there, in the "Racing Calculator" section, that just needs car weight and engine horsepower to give an idea how fast a car can go.

I guess I can chime in about the monza one time. Understand I do not go above the posted speed limit on surface streets, ever. I was going to get some parts for my van at the dealers, en route at a stoplight, I happened upon a new 5.0 Mustang, so, green light I stepped on it, right up to 40 MPH, then held it to the next light, and waited on the Mustang. Three stoplights, same thing, get to 40, hold it and wait on the Mustang at the next light. Got on the freeway and left him, big time. The Dodge dealership was next to the Ford dealers and I saw the Mustang pull in there. I watched as he threw the keys at the salesman and walked away. Curious, I asked the salesman what the deal was. He said the guy was really pi$$ed, a 20 year old car blew his doors off, three times, and he told me I could keep this piece of $hit. I didn't have the heart to tell him it was me, or what I was driving. Can you say "Sleeper"
