Mini me Manta......

Sort of. Here are the results of disassembling a Norev 1:18 scale Green Manta GT/E and re-doing it as close as I could to my real silver 1975 Manta.
More pics of it in my album: Aardvaark Gallery - Opel Photo Gallery

Amazing detail, Mark
All you need is a tiny little cooler in the trunk filled with miniature bottles of Yuengling Black & Tan!

Thanks guys. Wish I could do full size body work as well as some of the Opel folks can.

Mark,

Now, this really can be called too much time on your hands. I caught the hitch work right away but didn't examine the trunk. Are the strike panels on you car's doors really painted black? I didn't remember that. It's a nice model including the underhood bracing, the main thing I noticed was that the C pillar vents were too big for scale but without looking too hard I recognized an honest rendition of your car.

Nice work!

Jim

Thanks Jim.
Oops on the striker panels! Small brush time.
The Norev model being a 1975 Euro version, it obviously has the wrong bumpers, and the wheels are the four slot Rostyle instead of 8 slot 1975's.

But that said, they did a decent job on their two 1/18 scale Manta's, but compared to some other brands like the Roadsignatures and some Ertle and others, Norev did cut a few corners here and there. Like no spare tire or even spare tire well in the trunk. I fixed that on mine but still have to find a spare tire the right size. Also imo, the car sits too high off of the wheels. It is correctable but a big job for a modeler to fix. If I ever disassemble it again, I may do a lowering job. I'm still thinking of fabricating correct bumpers and ditching the spindley girly little chrome things.

Jim, could there be a yellow one in the future?

OK Mark,
You inspired me to dust off the GT model and post a pic (my mini-me, sort of ) Nowhere close to the amount of detail you put into yours, but I had fun slapping it together (especially after the glue kicked in...)
Let's see some others.

I think it was an AMT kit that I picked up on eBay a few years ago. Not quite "rallye orange" but close enough!

Then it would be basically the same as Gil sells since my understanding
is that he had Ertle that owns AMT make a special run just for OGTS
with his logo on the box and some other minor changes to the kit.
The Orange looks real close to your big one to me.
I'm adding one of his kits to my parts to order list for the future.

Just fabricated a scale luggage rack like the real one on my full size Manta.

Here are also a couple of pics of my Opel/Classic car 1/18th scale
service garage.
