Where can I buy a 1:18 Minichamps Opel GT?

I cannot find the 1970 Opel Gt, in orange, manufactured by Minichamps. I have tried foreign and domestic sites. Does anyone have one they will sell or can you direct me to a source? The real thing, a 1970 Opel Gt, in orange, was my first new car after graduating from college. I would really like to find one.

I am also looking for a 1969-73 steering wheel, full size, not model, to mount on my wall.

Thank you in advance for your help.

If you want the Minichamps model in orange, you can buy one in any color, dis-assemble it, and have it professionally painted the factory color you want. As for the steering wheel, I have a nice one to sell. PM me your e-mail address, and I can provide pics.

At this moment there's one for sale here in Holland. It is a very rare model. The price is already at 90 euro = 120 dollar.
See here:
Marktplaats.nl > 1:18 Opel GT oranje Minichamps - zeldzaam - Hobby en Vrije tijd - Modelauto's | midden | 1:18 en 1:24

It was also listed on Ebay.nl http://cgi.ebay.nl/1:18-Opel-GT-1970...0312123001r818 Buy it now price: 179 Euro = $ 235
Also now on sale in Belgium: http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...%3D4%26ps%3D41
Buy it now price: 130 Euro = $ 170

I bought mine from All Car Models. It doesn't look like they have one at the moment but you could just keep checking back with them until they do (if not in a hurry).

I'm shopping for one of the Minichamp 1:18 scale GT's (don't care what color) and it appears that while they are out of stock most places, Minichamps will soon be issuing it again in white. Like Gene said. Dissassmble and repaint. I did that to a Norav 1:18 Manta to paint is silver like my real one. Might be time to get on a waiting list if you can't find a used one.

New Release October 2009

Apparently Minichamps is offering a white '71 Opel GT/J in October of this year, see pdf below. I guess we'll have to wait.

Harold.
I've had one on order for two months. Last time I asked they said late May.
Now they will probably say late June.
Why announce them so long before they are shipped to sellers?
They usually sell out pretty quick anyway.

I know where you can get an orange Opel GT 1:24 scale model

http://cgi.ebay.com/Opel-GT-1900-1970-Quattroruote_W0QQitemZ120432564707QQcmdZViewItemQQ ptZMacchinine_e_Miniature?hash=item1c0a5719e3&_trk sid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3 A1%7C72%3A1205%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C 294%3A50

This 1:24 scale Orange Opel GT model has just been introduced on Italian eBay. I purchased one last week and its currently being shipped to me. The level of detail looks close to that of the MiniChamps 1:18. If you look closely you can see that it even has the amber side repeaters that were required on the Italian market Opels (just like my full scale version!).

The white one may be nice but it isnt a GT/J
There are no white GT/J 's and all GT/J 's have black bumpers... no chrome. That ,infact, is the most typical thing of a GT/J

Somebody should tell Minichamps.

It doesn't matter to me as I'll probably do a color change after it arrives.
I really don't care all that much for the white with red strips of the Minichamps prototype pictured and will most likely pick one of the stock GT factory colors.
Or just remove the red strips and leave the white body color as is.

310 EUR!! Makes me glad I bought mine 3 years ago, and paid far, far less than that. Mine is exactly the same model and color. Also my then 6 years old son managed to find one brand new in the box a couple of years ago at a market, paying approx. USD 100.00 (he`d been looking for hours for one, and finally he met a seller that seemed to remember he had one, so my son got him to empty his whole truck to find it). That one is fireglow. So, it looks like we have a small fortune on our shelf.

...the tail wagging the dog!

When the price of the 1:18 scale model exceeds the price of a restorable full scale version of the GT, you have to say that's "the tail wagging the dog!"

For me the model is just a reminder of what the full scale Opel GT was, and could be, pending restoration.

I paid around $60 bucks for my two minichamps 1:18 Opel GT's (yellow GT/J and silver GT) a few years ago when they were new and more widely available. I wouldn't pay over $ 100 bucks for a model and $ 100 bucks is the least I've ever paid for a full scale Opel GT.

But then you know we Opel owners are a thrifty lot!

Jonzo

p.s. I concur, there's was no such thing as a white GT/J from the factory.

Keep looking on ebay....

Last month on US ebay I won/bought a N.I.B. Minichamps yellow Opel GT for $104.38 which included shipping. My mama didn't raise no fool!
Be patient and pass on these sucker fishing expeditions. More reasonably price orange ones will turn up.
