Just got back from the Cannonball Run!

Okay, okay, they now call it the "One Lap of America" and I was just a spectator. They drive to a different track each day for a week.
www.onelapofamerica.com

I played hooky from work today with one of my Chevron Engineer buddies and went to our nearest track, No Problem Raceway, were I do the track days. The cars drove all night from a track in Illinois, 1000 miles. They had to run 2 heats consisting of 1 practice lap and 3 hot laps for their scores. They have to be at Savannah, Ga in the morning, 800 miles. There were about 85 cars.

Talk about some neat and varied stuff....a twin turbo Viper with a Chevy engine, a new VW Beetle with 550 HP and all wheel drive, 2 Nobles and 2 Ultimas, a 944 with a Chevy small block, a Ultralite Lotus 7 clone with Honda SA2000 engine w/300 HP, 2 Honda mini vans, etc, etc, too much to list.
Check out their website for more info and see if they are coming somewhere near you.

James

I wish I'd known sooner, they were up at VIR yesterday, about 30 min away. Could have been why I was seeing cars and chase vehicles going down the road. Oh well, maybe next year. Jarrell
