Unanswered: Making an OPEL GT legal for SCCA

i have recently been bitten by the opel bug....Just Purchased a super solid 72... i had pipe dreams of running it in SCCA sanctioned races.I have several questions regarding this. Beginning with...

What would it take to make it legal?

i come from go kart racing ( 10yrs tuning/engine building) and drove a fair amount years ago....i feel i have the grasp of the driving angle..

First you have to byu the GCR Book ( general competition rules and specifications) from SCCA. Second you have to decide what glass you want to race (how much money you want to invest). I think thats the first thing that you have to decide. After we can talk again.

Like Pete said, get a GCR (you can download it from the SCCA website). Rules have changed over the years, but this thread here gives the highs and lows of prepping a GT for various SCCA classes.

Alternatively, NASA has classed the GT for Performance Touring (PT), and in that class you have almost unlimited choices for prep. It should also be eligible for NASA's GTS Challenge class (all German cars).

Itb Sounds Fine...kinda Limits What You Can Do Though, Right?

I can also help if you would like, I ran an ITB GT for a year, then started converting it to GTL. It still sits after I destroyed my neck. I am not here very often as it is just depressing. If I can help drop me a pm with your contact info.
