The red GT is mine and I've got a ton of neat pictures folks sent to me after the Runoffs. We had lots of problems in qualifying but showed well in the race going from 25th to 10th in the 9 laps before #3 exhaust rocker stud broke at the threads. The official scoring showed me only in 12th on the 10th lap when I pulled in due to repasses from the lost power. This happened to me on #1 intake earlier in the year when I was poised to pass a Honda CRX for the win with two laps to go- that Honda finished 3rd at the Runoffs.
I need to sell this car as you see it in the linked pics (and in Grassroots and on Speed TV) so I can move on with my tubeframe Opel GT project. If I keep it, I'll keep racing but may never get the tuber done and my warehouse full of Opel speed parts won't be offered for sale till the car is sold (I've had severall inquiries for parts, but need the stuff as backups for myself and anyone who may want the car). This car has won 4 SCCA National Points/Divisional Championships (and tied once) in the six years I have raced it. It has won multiple SCCA Nationals every year and set several track records, including besting a Honda by .3 seconds at Pueblo this year. Think of the historical significance- there are few Opels out there with this kind of record and all the signage for national wins and Runoffs entries is on the car and in the timing sheet records that go with it. As I turn 63 next month, I can only imagine what a younger person could do with this thoroughly sorted and easy to drive car! The car as seen in the pics is a fully original steel tub, with highly modified suspension, which means it can be configured for anything from H Prod/F Prod though GT Lites or even vintage. Ready for your engine and trans I am asking only $5,500 obo. I have many confgurations of engines available depending on someone's needs and wants, but as an axample , I could provide the car with a brand new Nationally competitive F Prod engine for a little over $10,000. Anyone interested in structuring a deal on this car to meet their wants and needs, please contact me. Stan Czacki, 915-204-3520 or sczacki@utep.edu |

Is this the same car that you use to run in FP? As I have said many times I wish I would have known you where selling about 2-3 years ago. I have easy 2x that much in my ITB car, with few of the goodie parts. My plan was to iron out the bugs for a few years in IT then perhaps go to FP. Now with all the LP stuff I might just stay in IT. They cost SO much to build but you get SO little out of them when you sell them, That's the only reason I am going to keep the ITA MR2....that and in a few years the boy will be ready to join in. But he is liking Fiats for some odd reason

Cherokee,
Yes, that's the same car I ran in SCCA FP (three years- 2000 SPdiv and 2002 RMdiv Champ in Nat'l points) and am now running in SCCA GT (2003 RMdiv GT4Champ and 2005 RMdiv GTLites Champ). Am trying to stay in GTLites and complete the new tubeframe car even though I have a fresh FP short block and head and got the larger ventilated front brakes homologated for FP. If you know anyone looking for a well sorted, competitive car to go SCCA racing, let me know. I also have a ton of spares, but am reluctant to sell them till I know the car has a good home. Offers anyone?? Also would consider trades for something that would be easier to sell than a racing Opel! I sure would like a good home for this car as I've owned it since 1979 and even have a street title for it- hate to go to EBay where who knows who will end up with it. Stan |
