    PC crash

My home PC is caught in a Microsoft death cycle. So I won't has access to site email and will have limited access to PM's until I fix it.

    Never a dull moment

    Gary

Last week I received the blue screen for unmountable_boot_volume. Is this by chance what you got? If it is let me know, I received some good info off a tech forum. Mine (crossed fingers) has worked fine for about five days, I had to fix it twice to fix the boot.

It's one of those "auto updates" that went bad. I installed XP service pack 2 last weekend and yesterday the auto update ran and the system crashed. Just kept rebooting.... and rebooting... and rebooting. I'm attempting to repair it now.

Try going into safe mode, do a system restore before the service pack installs. and run check disc. It might get you back on track. Hth, Jarrell

    Dud!

Used the Irish Roulette Method, Baz.

Load ALL the chambers and hope for a misfire!

Gary, The MicroSoft Update on my computer disabled the FireWall feature and it was only luck which led me to find out that had happened - worthwhile checking that when you are up and running again.........

    Gary,
Check all of your drivers, if you have one that is not XP compatible and XP install does not know to update it for some reason then you get the CRASH with no fix possible.

Ended up copying the hard drive, reformatting and reloading. Just got the mail working and can access the site normally.

Looks like I have some catching up to do.....
