    gt tail and brake light

    Hi all,

I recently obtained a set of all four lamps to upgrade the rear of my gt. The ones I just received are mounted with threaded studs,maybe(10-32) dia. My 73 GT has sheetmetal screws for mounting. My question is, are the ones with the studs from another year or are they for Mantas? Also my lamp grounds are part of the car harness, the grounds on the new lamps are jumpers to one of the mounting studs, not a problem, just for your info,Bob

My 72 has jumper wires for the grounds on the tail lights that ground to the body. They screw in, but they aren't sheet metal screws.

    BobCGT,
The sheet metal screws hold the light housing to the rear panel and the stud screws hold the lens to the light housing. There should be three sheet metal screws and two stud screws in each lens. Also, there are gaskets that go in between the housing and panel and lens and light housing. Without those gaskets, you end up sniffing exhaust fumes!
    Hope this helps!

I figured out that all I had to do was drive out the mounting studs and now I can use the 3 sheetmetal screws to mount the lamps. The studs must be for a car model that has easy access to the backside of the lamps.Non GT!Duh
