hey friends ,
I bought an Opel Corsa 1992 1.4i petrol , what is the appropriate thermostat i could use with it ? and do i need to change them between seasons as the thermostat is difficult to be changed because it's located behind the timing belt.
there is some choices like 71 Celsius degrees or 81 or 85 ? i don't know which one is better to my car as the heater is very weak because the Ex-owner used to use normal water not a cooling system liquid![]()
advice me guys and I'm all thankful for u all

thx dear Tekenaar , a high temp thermostat won't harm the head gasket ?
and may u tell me which is the best way to flush the cooling system , and how to flush the heater radiator ?
glad with ur help and thx for u all![]()
No, as long as rest of cooling system is maintained.
Do you have drain plug on your radiator?
Purchase "radiator flush" liquid and follow directions. Remove radiator/reservoir cap and open radiator drain and let all coolant drain out. Refill with RF liquid and water following directions on package. Set your heater control for max temp (this allows flushing it). Start engine, leave radiator drain open and use hose to fill radiator with water until it runs clear. This should "flush" system sufficiently for your purposes.

thx dear , but I'm not sure about this , we have one of the worst water around the world it's filled with mineral salts and always that destroyes the motors heads , and i suffered alot with my mercedes , is it safe to use radiator flush without having leaks all around the cooling system , or not destroying the motor head ! excuse me but I'm so careful and i don't need to spend more money like what i did with my ex-mercedes ?
glad with ur help and I have to hear the persons like u who have alot of experinces. thx dear
Opel Ascona;
driving one is like living on the edge.
Only built from 1970 - 1975
What you can do is flush the radiator with the cleaner or you can use, a solution of lye or drain cleaner. This should be run in the radiator for approximately 5-10 minutes and drained, following immediately with a solution of baking soda .5 kgs and water. Run this for 5-10 minutes in the engine cooling system. It should neutralize the lye solution and followed with a clean water flush of 5-10 minutes.
This is homemade and should be used with caution. Jordan is a beautiful country. I have seen it from the air. I can't say where in the air, however.
