thats the PDSI from a 1.6 only a 27 mm venturi . it must realy choke the 1.9 for top end you might want to look for a didta (normal 1.9 carb) inlet and a didta or weber to go on it to get the best out of the engine
First CIH one barrel carb installation I've ever seen! Here are the vacuum line connections for your installation . . . using your picture:
No connection is needed on the regulator vacuum nipple for a carb installation. The manifold vacuum nipple below the brake booster fitting may be blocked if not using distributor vacuum retard . . . pollution control device which only works only at idle anyway. Connect others as indicated.

Citing an old 1973 Solex book I have, more likely to be a 35PDSI (Opel carb) with a 26mm choke. BMW was the only 36PDSI user, also 26mm choke, on their 1500 and 1600 models, as far as I can tell. Only ones larger than these were the 38PDSIs, shared by DB (28mm choke) and BMW (30mm choke), and the 40PDSI (30mm choke) used only by BMW on their 2000 and 2002 (non-TI/TII/Turbo) models.

by my Haynes manual Opel used the pdsi part # 3441507 on the 1.6 manta A manual with a 1.06" /27mm your book might be more accurate than a never right![]()

The carburettor, as I wrote in the begining of this topic, is Solex 32/35.
I have seen the same carburettor installed on some European 2l Opel Rekord Caravan.
Anyway, I have an incomplete double barrel carburettor marked 'GM Varajet II' and the proper inlet+exhaust mainfolds (I'll take some pictures on them), the throttle linkage is missing... I intend to install it later (in the spring), as soon as I find an air filter box and the engine finishes it's first 1500 km after overhaul.
Thank you tekenaar for the hints; the hose on the pressure regulator's nipple is only for dirt protection until I find a proper plastic cap.
First of all I have to clean the engine compartment and to arrange the electric wires, for the moment they look like mess...
Thank you, guys, once again for your support and helpful advices.
Attached you can see a buddy's idea of how my blonde might look like...![]()
I think some of the confusion over carb nomenclature is possibly due to your "32/35" reference, the dual carb throttle size listing more typically used for a two-barrel, progressive carb rather than the single size for your obviously one-barrel carb. Perhaps this 35PDSI-2 "exploded" illustration with correct throttle and fuel inlet orientation from my 1973 Solex manual will clear this up:

I think I have created some confusions with my english...- sorry, I'm not a native speaker
![]()
The carburettor which is actually on my car is marked 'Solex 32/35' and it is single barrel. I've seen the same type on the 2 liter engines.
I have home another carb, double barrel, marked 'GM Varajet II' (+ corresponding mainfolds) - on which I need the mechanism that links the throttle cable to throttle axis and the air filter housing. On this subject I will post some pictures next days. This last one I intend to use in spring, next year.
I hope I am clear now...

the confusion is because whats in the photo looks to be a PDSI and a 32/35 solex looks like the one below , a totaly different carb

No confusion with your English at all, it's excellent. Just wanted to clarify that the carb is a one-barrel for all the other readers.
Hmmmm, could have been a bit clearer myself . . . perhaps should have said "possibly due to the "32/35" reference" instead . . . more general.

Meant to mention this in earlier post, but I have NOT heard many good things said about this "carb" (actually TBI) from other European Opelers. It was never imported here, but the TBIs used on American engines were and are not very highly regarded either. I've never seen one used on a "Hot Rod", which kind of says it all!!

otto unless im thinking of the wrong carb compleatly the varajet 2 is a sliding or "variable" venturi carb for the primery and a conventional fixed venturi for the secondery
the primery working like an SU or stromberg but downdraft
i thought the throttle body injection was a different unit all together !!
the diag i put up was for comparison and not clamed to be the GM one its just the first one i found to show that the carb in the photo is not the same but a pdsi
