    GT Stock Body Heights

I have looked and not found information about the original body heights of the GT. Does anyone know for sure what an accurate measurement may be. I would be happy with the height from the ground to the bottom of the rocker at the jacking locations. Other good points might be the height from the ground up to the bottom of the wheel well openings at both the front and back centerline locations. Hopefully someone may know. The original stance or the correct heights would be very helpful. I especially do not want to be overheight with my project. Under is o.k. but not over. RACECAR SPELLED BACKWARDS SPELLS RACECAR.

    GT Body Heights

Overall height, I suppose would be a vertical measurement to some high point on the roof panel. Thanks for the info. I also guess that all GT's fall in the model 77 of forty eight inches tall. I knew someone would have some info. Thanks

    Yep!

That 48.2" measurement is to the highest point on the roof and is for all GTs 1969-73 in Factory configuration.

Does anyone know what the distance between the ground and the bottom of the rocker panel (ASSuming the ground and rockers are level front to rear)? I'm trying to get a good idea of ride height and ground clearance. Thanks.

What are all those model numbers about, Maxx? I've never heard of them before.
How low can you go, Ricky? The lower the better, right? Did you see the Mustang in the latest Hot Rod Mag, the incredible silver and blue '67 fastback? Lowered by moving the rockers and floor up four inches... Wow. This is a great example of the new fad in ride height.
I think mine is pretty low. It just passes tech inspection, which is a 3"x3" piece of square tubing 8" long with a handle on it, the inspector shoves it around under the car, if it hits on anything the car is too low. I could bring the front end down a tad bit more, but other than that it would be hard to get any lower.
The stock rear wheel tubs have a lot of room as long as the tires aren't very wide. Today the rage is tall wheels and short tires, on a GT they can be skinny, too, since the horsepower and weight are pretty minimal. I'd like to see a GT done this way, it would look great.

Jeff, those are simply the model designation numbers for North American-spec Opels. Example: Model 57 is a Manta.

    GT Body Heights

The Nissan 350 zx has about four inches ground clearance at the lowest point. I think that is about as low as I would want to be. I just wanted some stock rocker heights front and back to try and understand the stance of the original car. I also have a frame under my car to contend with. Yep thats right, twin 2X4 steel rails. Just hoping the car can be positioned at original height or lower. Hey Jeff, yeah BTW my wheels are 17 inch torque thrust five spoke old tyme Cobra style. I have managed to keep all the rubber under the fender.

I can't wait to see your car, Ricky. I'm starting to really like the modern look, you know, the huge wheels and tiny tires within the fenders. It just took me a while to get used to it!
