Sounds like you are really into Opels, aren't you?
Several years ago I got a 74 wagon. Ever since I've tried to find a replacement windshield without spending twice what the car is worth. Every effort has fallen through and the car will be crushed so I never have to look at it again. There were alot of plans for it that all go down the tubes for that same reason. My Opelitis is cured or will at least go on an extended holiday. I have no use for the things built and purchased for it in any way ever again.

well if 15 GTs 4 mantas and 2 wagons qualify, with the first one 30 years ago. But everybody has thier breaking point. You don't know what was sitting in wait for the wagon to be drivable. It's not a pretty picture.
The only cure for an addiction like Opelitis would be another addiction as a substitute. I was addicted to video games until the day I finished Halo and started working on my GT. I was getting too old for video games anyway.Jerry
That part is easy, my oldest friend has a couple of bad health issues and a friend is more worthy of your time than any car. They predate the opels and I started them when I was 14 in 1977 or so. I also have been offered money or another car just to get rid of the wagon. There is alot more than just me in this decision. Personally I tried to keep it but I just got tired of kicking a dead horse. I have close to 6000 dollars wrapped up in it, but Colorado law is strict about windshields and as it is it's illegal to drive. This isn't a 7th plea for a windshield, it's me throwing in the towl. I know when I'm beat. I also know what it would take to go there again, and it's not happening.
"For want of nail - the shoe was lost ... for want of a shoe - the horse was lost ... for want of a horse - the kingdom was lost."
WE have all been eagerly awaiting the developements of "Fuggly" ... and the Turbo motor!
Please don't deprive us of that .... for want of a windscreen.
Bet there is a good ... or even new one lurking in Colorado, not far from home. It is amazing what turns up, close by after you quit ...... and you are NOT a quitter!
Get searching - ugly wagons need love too.![]()

A bit more insult to injury. There was one at Joys, the place with the 4 GTs. I had it paid for as well as what was left of the 4th GT. She decided to move and had everything crushed but the bianchina that went to Texas. I've tried every dismantaller as well as everybody that even claims to have seen one. I'm done and part of what made up my mind was plasma cutting the flange for the t4 turbo.....one more piece of useless junk to toss on the pile. Right now that pile is over 1200 pounds and spread out over 4 locations. Enough is enough.
Try car-part.com http://car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgiy car-part.com

Dave, I also checked carpart.com and found a listing for a 1972 wagon windshield for $65. Jerry
Here is where I found the 72 wagon windshield for $65 and there are 2 1974 wagons that you would need to call for a price. Hope that helps. Jerry

The closest one is in Tulsa, and they won't ship. There is another in Oklahoma city and they won't ship. There are 2 in Fairbanks and they all as close to me when you do the flight or drive. there was one listed in Washington state and a bunch out east but all told it's not going to happen. There are 2 in the Carolinas and another in South Dakota. In the 4 years I've been after this EVERY deal fell through. It isn't about the windshield anymore. If I was offered one right now, I'd pass on it. Oh and did you know there is one at OGTS but shipping alone is 600 making the total aroud 900 and no guarantees.
Honest, I just want off this merrigoround.

Ok Jim, as usual you made me have to think. Something about forests and trees comes to mind. I started looking for the glass close to 4 years ago and new was iffy and around 800 then with no gasket and no install or tax. Here in about 4 hours I'll make a call on one for 354. New and delivered for that price plus tax. It won't change the fact that I don't have a place to work on it or store it or all the other parts but it does make me have to think about a couple what ifs.
WOW that was refreshing. A couple of yes answers and only one no. Yes, I'm an idiot for trying and yes I'm a glutton for punishment it seems. The no was about them, thier competetors or any antique glass distributors having one.![]()
