    "Somebody"

There is (was?) an excellent thread about repairing this float unit with a step by step repair proceedure and offer of free replacement special wire - but it has gone ... with the bath water - and the baby ...

"somebody" is probably laughing his tits off about now!

Is there no way to bring it all back into the fund of Opel knowledge - PLEASE!

If you're talking about a GT sender, I stumbled across one in my stash, don't know if it works, but, you're welcome to try. If it does work, then we'll talk $, How's that?

Yes that thread is gone, but let me tell you the "special wire" was not the correct wire afterall. I got a piece of that "special wire" and it is the wrong resistance.

Ya, I'm laughing. But the instructions said a resistor was needed. And free is normally not a bad thing if nobody else will even try to find anything that will work and test it for you.

If that is the same as what you sent to me Tom. It appears to work.
It was only 30 ohms instead of 100 ohms.

It does show Full scale. I haven't emptied the tank yet so I don't now how accurate it is. Here is how I cured a poor return to case problem.

This is a recording: "According to my DESTEC schematic" Gas tank empty should read with a VOM at Red Instrument Panel connector Pin 4, and to ground, 89 ohms, with 2 gallons of gas, 67 ohms, 6 gallons of gas, 38 ohms, with 8 gallons of gas, 29 ohms, and a full tank should read 3 ohms. HTH
