How wide is a GT radiator?

I had my radiator re-cored and when I tried to put it back in, it was too wide. Can someone maybe measure the width of their radiator and let me know so I can take mine back and have the shop do it right? Thanks in advance.

Gabe, I just measured the top radiator tank on Willit? and it was right at 15" give or take a fraction or two. I just can't see how the radiator would be too wide if they used the original top and bottom tanks. I could be the rubber supports are not in the holes of the radiator support far enuff and that's why it appears to be too wide. HTH.

The metal strapping/flange....the part of the radiator that the shroud attaches to is wider now. It looks like the new core material is a tad thicker or wider and that piece won't fit properly. The tanks weren't touched except to be removed from the old core and put on to the new. Rubber pieces are installed correctly. It isn't that much too wide, just wide enough to not fit in the opening in the core support any more. So I need a measurement side to side below the tank.

When I had a couple of my GT rads recored with the 3 row instead of 2 row, they of course got thicker. What I did was to grind a flat on the rubber mounting pad so it would still install. It does of course protrude more into the engine compartment now.

Gabe, I think I know what you're talking about. I can't measure the opening, I've got an AC condensor in front of the radiator support. But the actual opening in front of the radiator has flanges running down each side, I had to massage them a bit to slide the 3-row in mine too. Double check each side of the radiator with the rubber mounts in the slots, then see if you can open the flanges a bit. I had to use a very wide blade putty knife between the edge of the radiator and the flange and worked the radiator in between the flanges. HTH.

Just went out and measured my radiator ('73 GT) and it is 14 7/8" wide on the outside of the fins only and 15 1/4" wide including the sheetmetal frame on the sides. HTH

    GT Radiator Width

Outside width of OEM radiator to banding is 15-3/8".
Outside width to brackets for rubber mounts is approx. 15-1/2".

My measurements are slightly larger than others noted. There are two (2) sheet metal spacers (inside the banding metal at the mounts) that adds more than their metal thickness to both sides of my radiator.

I would attempt to achieve 15-1/4" width rather than 15-3/8" width.
