Jerry,
I am not sure if they are the same but if you need a drive shaft, I do have an extra one that I am willing to sell only if it will work for you. Let me know you can email me at opelwrx.com just put my name first, rodney@_________.
According to my old catalog, the 69 1100 manual GT and Kadett had the same driveshaft/propeller shaft. Is this true? I am in need of a driveshaft, as the previous owner modified it for use with a 1.9 axle. The WTB ads are full, so anyone have one for sale? I will be picking up a free 69 1100 GT, and will have to check out his spare 1100 axle(from storage) before purchase. Who know, maybe the spare is toast.

The engine on the GT sits further back than on the Kadett, I can't imagine the driveshaft would be the same. I could be wrong, but in order for them to be the same the 1.1 engine would be very far forward in the GT body.
1958 Rekord Sedan, 1958 Olympia Wagon, 1959 Opel Olympia Sedan, 1967 Kadett Coupe, 1967 Admiral Sedan 4L CIH-6, 1968 Kadett fastback 1.1L, 1970 Kadett Wagon Turbo 2.2L, 1971 Kadett Sedan 1.1L, 1975 Manta Wagon 4.3L V-6
The parts book shows different driveshafts for GT and Kadett. The book shows no distinction between manual (c.t.) and auto (a.t.) for the 1100 GT like it does for the 1900 GT, but different part numbers for the manual and automatic Kadetts. So I presume that either the GT used the same shaft for both 1100's, or there were no automatic 1100 GT's, or the listing is inconclusive.
"No, it's not fiberglass."
"No, the motor is not in the back."
"No, your friend in high school did not 'peg' his speedometer."
When I get the car home, I will put the spare 1100 axle in and measure the length of shaft needed.
thanks,
Gerry
There was no GT 1100 automatic. Link
Needs a 2dr Ascona, everyone else has one.
So looking at Otto's chart in that link, I notice that the '69 GT 1.1SR has a final gear ratio of 3.89, while the '70 GT 1.1SR has 4.11's. Can anyone confirm this subtle changeover?
(The reason I ask is because I am building another 1.1L GT, and I need to make a decision on which axle I should pick. Thanks!)
The replacement diff & gear set in the 1974 Parts Book show only 4.11:1 ratio.
I would not be surprised if in 1969 Opel started out with 3.89:1 gears (for economical running!) and later changed to 4.11:1 to get a bit more get-up-and-go from the small motor.
GT1100 and Kadett1100 driveshafts are two different part numbers so probably different lengths - but the yoke splines will be the same so a Kadett driveshaft could be shortened for a GT.
