    Question about Carb!!

My Manta A has a Zenith carb.
How is it in comparison to a Weber 32/36 DGAV?

I've never heard of a Zenith carb for Opels, not that there wasn't, but, as for the weber, there's a nice gentleman in Italy that has tons of jets and such for webers to precisly tune a weber for your motor/driving, very quick on shipping and cheap prices too. The weber is far more a better carb to use.

    Zenith ...

These carbs were used in Europe on Mantas as an alternative to the fuel injection on 'cheaper' model Opels ... probably the only carbs in the world WORSE than the Slowex (Solex!)

Worse than a solex...that's very scary. The solex on my 69 wagon almost got me killed more than once. Weber is well worth the money and will pay for itself in gas.

. . . uh, guess you didn't read my thread about "Rescuing a Commodore GS in Kuala Lumpur" from about a week ago . . . that 2.8 CIH had two of them on it and the Zenith pairs were also used on a Mercedes 2.8 engine for several years . . .

. . . not! making any judgements of their "worth", though!

So I guess that I should swap it for the Weber 32/36 DGAV that I have laying around?

I would swap, but, I would also convert the water choke DGAV (the "A" stands for 'agua') to an electric or a manual choke.

Yes it is, the conversion kit can be ordered at Top-End Performance. Import Car Parts and Tuning. Weber Carbs. 818 764-1901 or www.redline.com It eliminates all the clutter of the tiny water lines and furture possible leaks. Cleans up under the hood.
