OpelGT.com was off line for several hours today when our host flagged us for "exceeding Bandwidth limits". The problem file has been removed and this won't be a problem in the future.

When the site was hacked, a file was dropped in a little used directory that allowed them to run it from the server.
It's not easy getting tech support on a Sunday morning.![]()

The site was down for a short time this morning when one of the Chat Room tables in the database decided that it did not want to play anymore. I received close to 200 emails from the server in a half hour period.
The good news is that thanks to Google, the downtime was minimal. Bad news, the "count" that shows how many members are chatting no longer works.
We now return to your regular scheduled programming....

Gary,
I started to get the "shakes" when I could not get on-line to the OpelGT.com site this morning.
All I can say is "Thank You" for your hard work to keep this site up and running.

Gary,
This might be related. I just tried moving a thread:
http://www.opelgt.com/forums/6c-fuel...tml#post145637
And I received the following message:

And the "Search Posts" feature seems to have been truncated about 4 hours ago, at about 9:40 am MST. There are newer posts than what shows up on a search and also on the front page

There were more problems with the database this afternoonI asked our host to move the site to another server. They will be moving it today (or may have already) so there could be some issues with recent posts.
We never had as many problems when we were on the old server. Hopefully this will end this stream.....

It seems nothing is being updated. Posts are appearing, but the index pages are not showing them..... Grrr... It's going to be a long night.
This Space for Rent
Looks like we had a corrupt table that was hosing the posts. This is not the way I wanted to learn about databases and php coding.....

Checking the post counter...

Gary,
Thanks for your hard work to keep us up and running. Amazing how fast people feel the pain.
I posted five times to a formu by accident today, kept getting database error messages when I hit submit. so I kept trying to repost, not knowing the page was not updating by itself.

Just tried to upload files for Parts Review section. System hung-up for few minutes, then lost www.opelgt.com link. Oh well ... Thanks for the hard work!
When fault messages appear on your link with GT.com - just log off and sit in the corner (twitching!) for a wee while - the more of us that try to post and log on during these (quite rare) outages ... the more cleaning up of multiple posts and overloads Gary has to contend with. Patience! Patience!
That is the best thanks Gary can get from us!![]()

There could be more "Downtime" today when we are moved to a new server. It may take a couple of hours for the migration to the new server......
