    L-Jetronic Help

    Hello Everyone:

Can anyone provide a PDF or file on the Jetronic Fuel Injection? I just purchased it with the computer brain and manifold. I am pretty lost as to all the connections, especially to the manifold itself.

I saw the PDF on this site for the conversion, thanks that will help, but I was wondering if anyone had the workshop manual or more in-depth literature.

    Many thanks in advance!

    Dave M.

    Manual.

What do you need in the way of information. I have several manuals on the L-Jetronic. When you say "manifold" are you referring to the intake or exhaust manifold, you must have the fuel injection exhaust manifold to use the system.

Here is a pretty comprehensive explanation and install instructions by Otto Bartsch

    David...

I was referring to the intake. The part that houses the injectors and thottle body. Seems there alot of connections that are tough to make out on the transplant instructions on our site.

    Thanks!

    Jordon,

Thanks - yes, this one is helpful. I pulled this from the site already. I was looking for more detail on the connections.

    Many thanks!

    Here's a picture of what I have...

This is the injection before it was pulled from the scrap car.

    Thanks Folks!

    Connections.

The injectors are connected to the FI control unit and the sensors are color coded on the harness connections. There is not much else to connect except the starter (black w/red stripe), fuel pump (blue), 12V+ battery (red) and 12V switched-ignition (black) connections.

Keep in mind the original 1975 Opel L-Jetronic and the later European LE-Jetronic are quite different in many aspects.

    Bob:

I'm still somewhat of a novice on the original 75' injection system. Is there a way to detemine (from my picture posted) what model I have?

    Thanks!

I can't tell from that picture unfortunately, at least not on my screen.

    LE Jetronic

Are the tops of the injectors an orange color?
If they are, then its probably an LE.I believe the injector tops on an L system are colored gray or blue?

The LE Jetronic was on the 2.0 engines, not made for import to the US

    Bob:

They are blue - so it looks like I have the L system.

    Nice! - Thank you

looks like the TS (throttle switch is one for a 2.0)

like David said you need a FI exhaust manifold or a header

a later starter solenoid is useful (one that has two prongs)

    is your ECU black

is the dual relay one connector or two

    some useful links

    Dave, Great stuff thank you

Fortunately I have the exhaust header so I'm covered in that direction. The ECU (and I'm assuming that's the control box) is a stainless steel color (if I am speaking of the correct part)

Thank you for the links and help. I am learning quite a bit from the great folks here!

    75 EFI L-Jetronic

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here? It would seem that I am missing an air tee and possibly a relay.

    Picture attached..

    Thanks in advance!

. . . but first a word about your 2.0 LE hose connections:

    Connect A to D . . .
    Connect B to C, not E . . .
Connect E with original one-way valve to F!

Can't tell you (from pic) where they mounted the dual/control relay for the FI power control . . .

    Many Thanks

Do I need the 75" distributor? I have asked Todd M (where I bought the system) - I can't seem to get a quick response.

I have a small metal box (looks like a resistive load - perhaps relay?)

Thanks for pointing out the connections - your markup will help immensely,

    Series resistor for L-jetronic

. . . if it looks like it has four, white cylindrical elements inside a square-ended, rectangular box, it's the 'series resistors' (current reduction) for the injectors, #12 on the L-jetronic schematic below:

. . . this means it's an L-jetronic like the '75 model, not the LE previously thought. '75 distributor is not an absolute requirement, though nice to have.
