    Replacement Window Cranks??

It appears that the window cranks (the part on the door) is stripped and the original window crank handles don't catch (they spin).

Has anyone found a universal replacment handle, perhaps one tha attached with a set screw???

I have not seen any with a set screw, I seen them with a screw that goes into the end of the crank post. Do you have a GT/Kadett or Manta/ Ascona?
As the GT and Kadett have a simular window mechanism as the Manta and Ascona have simular mechanisms. It may be a little bit of a pain but you can replace the window mechanism with one that does not have the splined post worn out. And hope that your door handle has not striped out in the process of trying to make the window go up and down then you may need both. If you choose to replace the mechanism, send me a pm to let me know which model Opel you have and I can check and make sure I have a good replace ment one for you, also is it the drivers' door or passenger?

I used crank handles from a '95 Mustang. They are about the same size and I didn't have to make any modifications.

If the part in the door is stripped, your pretty much screwed. Time to get replacement window regulators.

They attach the same way as the original ones with the horseshoe clip. It sounds kind of unusual to have one strip. There are a lot of teeth on the handle to grab onto the stud of the regulator. And, both of yours are bad?
You can take yours down to a wrecker and compare the handles. I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure the ones I used were from a 95 mustang (bottom).

The reason I changed over is because I broke an original (top) when trying to bend it to add clearance from my custom door panels. Jerry

I wouldn't don't that if the Mustang late model cranks work that a lot of other FoMoCo late model cranks work. There's got to be a bunch of Rangers and other trucks with roll-up cranks in junkyards. It's getting a lot harder to find cars with crank windows but a lot of trucks still come without power.
Needs a 2dr Ascona, everyone else has one.
