Who uses the Turnlight housings for fog lamps/driving lights

I am looking to rid a GT of its lights and go smooth over that area.

How well do the lights under the bumper look as far as driving with them only? I know its been done..

The Euro 'driving lights' that fit into where the orange ones go in the grille area by the over-riders are only 4" in diameter and of fixed focus - no provision for dipping ... they just go out on low beam.

I guess you could graft some late model QI hi-intensity head lights in there but they are a bit low to the ground to shine on the road correctly and may well be a significant glare hazzard to on-coming motorists ... is it legal to have high intensity lights mounted that low??

I believe headlights have a specified range as far as height goes.

Decades ago I mounted rectangular driving lights under the front bumper because I wanted to retain the aerodynamics of the GT with the roll-over lights down.

Bottom line: I couldn't see the road very well due to the poor angle.

• If I directed the lights downward to see the road, objects ahead of me were not visible.
• If I directed the lights up a bit, I couldn't detect pot holes, dips, road hazards until I ran over them.

Someone on this forum has photos of his green GT he modified by fixing the headlight bucket in the down position, and adding recessed lights that operate in this position. I believe he's located in Stockton, CA but can't remember his name. Search the members gallery.

i used to have H4 7" cibies in the position that the fog light / us turn light were with 110/65W bulbs for the same reason and it worked great , full vision with high or low beam on . the original lights were always so dim that any light that worked was a big +

Thanks, I was thinking of Manies' Solution.. I always loved those lights..

But I want to remove the buckets and more not just for aerodynamics.. but also for wieght.. about 25 lbs of wieght in the buckets, brackets, hardware, cables, levers, etc.. I honk could be saved.

I am considering trying the 4x2 bulbs off a 98 Camaro in some way.. Maybe something fitted into the nostrils. Being an EV I dont need the cooling vents.

Thanks for all the comments though.. it confirmed what I thought, that using the "Fog light" adaptation of the turn signal housings wouldnt be good for driving much.

My PO had put KC Daylighter off road lights there. I only turned them on twice before I ditched them, they lit up the whole city! No they could not be used with any other cars in the same county, you'd blind 'em in a heart beat. Yeah, POs, wow.

Though it has been a while since I have lived in the VA area, I do recall that they used to have very strict inspection policies. That said, I think one of the biggest concerns would be the legality of changing the lights. I know some states require that lights be of a certain height, reach a specific distance etc, unless they are exempt due to age( antique for example)

i am looking to graft these into the buckets (so they still rotate ) having trouble getting measurements of them to see if they will go in before i buy .

Here is what we did for the v8 Opel. The lights we used were Pia Quattro and they really light up the night! No problems seeing where you are going.

Wow I really like both of them headlights. Mainly the first one that GoinManta posted. If anyone goes through with this.. let me know! Anything is possible.. although it would be nice to get some dimensions first.

I was also interested in more information on that projection conversion kit. Too bad the site didn't have a picture of the finished product as I would like to know how to cover the opening.
