I did mine by drilling the pins out. If you only drill thru the mushroomed ends, the rest of the pin will drive out. By saving the original I.D. pin hole, at Lowes, in the Dorman drawers, I was able to find a threaded bushing, with the screw for the threaded other end, that fit the hole diameter perfectly. I had to shorten both the bushing length and the screw length to make the correct length fastener. Pretty easy to accomplish. Once you have one dismantled, take it with you, to shop for the bushing. I then replaced all the grommets with new ones from OGTS.

With the grommets worn out it's not hard to remove the locking mechanism but reinstalling them is a little more difficult.
