Removing GT Inside door latch bezel

This may be very simple, but how is the plastic bezel around the inside door latch on the GT removed? I am concerned with just trying to pry it off for fear of cracking it. Right now it is all that is keeping the door panel on. What's the secret? I misplaced my easy button! Thanks

Rick, you just pry it out, there's a couple of tangs in the front and rear edges that hold it in. You could use a hair dryer to warm up the plastic, to make it a bit more supple, if you thnk it's too brittle. HTH.

Rick, Ron is referring to the black plastic insert, not the chrome bezel!!

Thanx Harold, the screws for the chrome bezel are under the plastic insert. I thought that's what he was referring to, when he said plastic, the chrome bezel sure isn't plastic. Must be a symantics thing.

Actually sometime during the production they did switch over to chromed plastic. It didn't fare very well!

Didn't know they were separate pieces. Glad I got delayed before going back after it with brute force!

Took a closer look and saw the tabs on the plastic. From there it was quite easy to pop out the plastic insert to get to the screw holding the bezel. I thought the chrome was just shiny covering over the plastic. I would have busted the plastic for sure.
Ron, Harold, you both right about the "Chrome" bezel. I think the proper name for it is "Shiny Pot Metal"

The inside door latch has three parts. You must first remove the plastic insert to get to the screws. Then the guts of the latch will be exposed and you will be able to work on them.
