That isn't entirely true. To my knowledge no one currently manufactures them but they are not impossible to find or make. You'll need the flange which is the "hard" part to get. The rest of it is just steel tubing that you'd have someone locally weld together to make a header. Sometimes the old pacesetter headers will turn up on eBay or the sprint manifolds also work well but they are getting hard to find.

Just kind of an FYI it will help those who have to try and answer your question if you proof read your post before clicking submit.

There is a manufacturer, rather two actually, the one "Pacesetter" shows up on Ebay quite often, but, is a very poor quality product. The other was the rare HOOKER header. When one of these hits Ebay, you'd better have DEEP pockets.

Do you really need a header? Maybe a sprint manifold would work!

Or you could just have a quality header made.

What header is that? The collector doesn't look like a Pacesetter, if I'm not mistaken.

    I have a header

I was digging around the garage looking for some Opel parts and came across a few extra exhaust systems as well as a lot of misc. stuff for mostly British cars and Opels.
Among the Opel stuff is a Sprint exhaust manifold and a couple of headers that I bought a few years ago. I had spoken to quite a few experts and they all told me that the Sprint was better than the headers. That's why I bought the Sprint manifold when I had a header at home. I have 2 Opel 1900's and 2 Gt's having gotten rid of 2 GT's and 1 1900. I STILL WANT A 1900 SPORTWAGON. If you can't find/afford a Sprint then the header is the way to go.
I guess I should start gathering up all the Opel stuff I have no use for and sell it . I'll post the stuff here before putting the stuff on Ebay. sound fair?

ps: anyone need drive belts for a DAF.. I really do have a lot of oddball stuff

    opel header

I removed that from a Gt years ago. I never use it. Time to clean my garage.

the bid is at $101 so that is not a bad price at all

I bought my last pacesetter for $99 at Supershops

one thing that is needed is a Header for the GT we have been without for way to long

many many trips down the 1/4 mile drag strip tell me my pacesetter was better then the sprint

I even had the Rally Bob's recommended setup (except the part that went over the axle --the shop said they could not get the 2.5" to fit)

I sold off all my sprint manifolds except for the one Gil at OGTS gave me

Dave sounds like you have the proof.. so is the pacesetter the best of the headers? .. what one's are good and which one's don't improve flow as much as a sprint? What kind of time did you save in the 1/4 when u added the pacesetter header?
My main complaint with the headers that I put on one of my GT'S years ago is the lifespam. Hopefully the header on my Arizona car will last longer than headers do on Long Island.

Years ago when I actually had a daily driven GT I went from the stock exhaust with monza or ansa exhaust muffler & resonator to a pacesetter and then to a sprint. The header revved much quicker than the stock exhaust and even a bit quicker than the sprint. I burned up the header with header wrap and at that time didn't like the unreliability of the header on my main transportation so I switched to the sprint.

A few years ago I contacted PAECO Industries of B'ham, AL about making some headers for the GT. The used to list headers and a Prima Flow exhaust system for GT's and possibly Manta's. IIRC their response was more about volume and cost per unit than whether they could still get them done. I had one and sent it back. It looked well made, better than my Pacesetter. Without installing it I couldn't tell if the #1 pipe was going to clear the stock intake, the Pacesetter doesn't. And the other reason I turned it down was because the header flange didn't match the thickness of the intake flange. It cost about twice as much as the Pacesetter at the time and I felt it shouldn't have required ANY modifications to make it work.

Paeco is known to be some of the biggest crooks around so I would never do business with them

I do have a 10lb $650 Paeco flywheel (was supposed to be 6lb) if anyone wants to buy it off me

back to the headers I ran 18.5 in the 1/4 mile that's with 3.67 rear, 1.5 head (1.9 valves, 1.9 FI with, with T-5 5 speed.

that's the setup I ran for several years

Rally Bob sent me a paper on what size header and pipe length to use per application

the pacesetter was like 20" something pipe length and 36" plus (cant quite remember) is what was needed

every once and awhile that paper pops up but cant find it again.

the setup, that Bob recommended if I remember right for the sprint header was to cut the pipe right where the two come together run it to a the muffler like what he used to get out of Europe, then 2.5" over the axle housing and I forget the rest

I ran a Monza 4 Tip (after Bob finally convinced them to fix the problems with the design) and thought that was a good setup until I knocked it off during a autocross

the car made more power after I knocked it off so I left it off.

when I picked up the race car from OGTS, Gil sold me a early LT 2400 type of header it is a two piece with really long 4-2-1 design

my feelings is this would be the best set up
