    Nationals Weather Reports

I have been watching the weather very closely with all the tropical activity going on.

As of today, Sunday, the weather report for the three days at the 2008 Opel Nationals is a 30% chance of isolated thunder showers each day.

    I can live with that!

Could be wet Friday and Saturday if Hanna keeps on that track.

Yea... I have been watching that. But the Weather Channel still says a 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms on Saturday.

Hey Gary, you got to think positive!

Not that I've done very many, but I've been rained on in every car show I've done so far with the Opel ...

I'm not too sure I have ever been to an Opel show where it did not rain a little bit. So, what is an Opel show without rain? (Better)

A little rain and an Opel Gt

Believe me I understand when a little rain can ruin your day. I am at this moment going downstairs to sweep out about 32 inches of flood mess. I say this with all enthusiasm. The second floor that is my primary dwelling did not take water and my Opel GT is high and dry on a trailer. Hurricane Gustav did not get me like Katrina. Well I gotta go clean up the mess. Look at things this way. Everything is relative. This has been a long week-end waiting on this storm after dealing with Tropical Storm Fay last week. I may find myself and the Opel a new place to enjoy car shows. I will add some pics soon.

Looks like Hanna will past through the Charlotte area on Friday and Friday evening and will be well to the north of us for Saturday's show! It may still be cloudy but at least rain will be out of here.

Hope you are right, the cancellation policy at the hotel is 48 hours for our group so I have to make a decision by Wednesday (tomorrow) night.

I have been watching all of the Hanna info and have decided that I am not going to make the drive down to Charlotte. I would be driving straight into the storm which doesn't make much sense. For those of you that make the show have a great time and get tons of pictures.

neuropel has made a donation to the forum!

Hanna's path looks an awful lot like Hugo back in 1989, which left Charlotte as a disaster area (as I'm sure Roy remembers!). It goes without saying that you guys should keep an eye on this storm.

We are closely watching this storm as well. I've checked several weather reports and some are calling for 70% chance of rain, others 30%. The wind is also a consideration as it is calling for over 40 mph. I'm not sure I'm up to the white knuckle driving required to pull a loaded car trailer through the mountains in the rain and that kind of wind.

We will be making a decision before the 48 hour deadline tomorrow evening. Let's hope Hanna goes against the predictions and takes a giant turn and misses the Charlotte area. (ok... you can hope can't you?)

From what I have been reading around here, there is now a 70% chance of rain on Friday but only 30% on Saturday! If the storm jogs a little to the east, we will miss most of the rain and storm! If not, then we will get the storm through here mostly on Friday evening and should be OK by Saturday afternoon.

I am presently planning to attend. C'mon Dave, you know Mantas are sea creatures... plus, your wipers are working again. Can't miss a chance to meet Baz and Hallgeir and see Dieter's new Kadette. Plus, next year's nationals are way out west, right?

Will keep a weather eye open, but I'm overdue for an adventure. Just like the old days driving through Wisconsin snow so high the ruts steered the car. Tire chains through the Mackenzie pass in Oregon.

What's a little roostertail to an Opel?

I am still watching Hanna also, I don't care so much about the 30% chance of rain on Saturday as I do having to drive from North to South directly through the entire storm, it's a long enough drive as it is but with that much rain it could take 24 hours if there are accidents the whole way. Decision time is coming fast............

I am bringing lots of sun tan lotion with me from Tucson. From the weather report I have just seen from the N.Carolina station, WRAL, this may not develop into much. I promised Gene I would drag some warm, dry weather with me.

If it keeps slowing down the way it is, the rain could very well miss Charlotte. The computer models keep drifting toward it pointing to my region (Southeast MA/RI border)
