pics eng & tranny

anyone have a pic of a removed eng tranny assembly.? I want to compare it to some other setups. I am thinking about a ford 2.3 W/5spd.

Don't know if this will help, but here's a couple of pics, front and rear of the V-6 and the 1.9 sitting on dollies I made that emulate the frame holes the engine/tranny subframes bolt to.

thanks pretty close, i was looking for side view. but i can see the problem from the rear view. Appears the stock setup, the shifter is farther to the rear then any trannies I am familier with. I will look around the junk yard though and seee what we have.

I am sure a ford 2.3 w 5 speed would fit, but shifter coming out , may be under the dash. Have to do some real planning.

btw did you put that 6 in one? That trsnny looks normal, how did it work for you?

Below is a link to the 7 Articles on how I installed the GM 3.4L V-6 and S-10 T-5 tranny in my GT. How does it work? In a word, it's a "Blast" to drive. But with all transplants of this magnitude a whole lot of cash, time, and skill is needed., I was lucky that I had professional help with this project in the skills I was lacking in.

Try PM'img either or both "cfrssy" and "roosterusek" on this site, both have the Ford 2.3 w/5-spd installed in their GTs. One has the turbo version.

One of the dimensions - height - of the Cam-In-Head motor is considerably shorter than many similar capacity motors. This is mainly due to the very short stroke - 69.5mm (2.75").

Not many (if any!) 2 litre four cylinder motors have such a short stroke and thence compact cylinder block. The CIH head is also not as tall as a true Overhead Cam motor as the camshaft is positioned beside the valves and not above them.

The next generation of Opel motors (The GM Generation II) have a stroke of 86mm (3.4") this requires a taller block to fit it inside. They are also OHC with taller heads.

This means that almost any other motor is too tall to easily fit into the GT engine bay - the original motor is canted at about 7 degrees to fit the carb under the hood as it is ...

I was thinking fuel injection would help with some height. Or a scoop of sorts if carbed.
