Hi
I’m so glad I found Opelgt.com. finally a place I can ask help about a Manta with out getting the response “you’re looking for a part for a what?” There is definitely a lot I can learn from this Forum and its members.
I own a White 1972 Opel Manta running it with a normally aspirated 1900s engine (tuned) Cams, Head, the works…
Now the sad news, this Opel has not moved for the last 9 years. Finding parts in South Africa is impossible and importing parts is far too expensive. So the next step now is to learn from all of you and to start modifying.
I also need to start restoration on the exterior of my poor Manta due to it standing in the wind and rain for this period. Pics included, will get beter photos this weekend when I get it out of that hole...
Hello Ray,
Good beginnings you have there.
Yeah it will be a challange getting pieces to SA.
I've pulled into Cape Town a few times and had
to get equipment sent to the ship. It took a while,
but hey, I was in Cape Town. Best port call, I think,
in the world. Good luck on the Manta, nothing's
impossible.
Don.
hi welcome i have parts for sale on this sight if you're interested there under the ad board section

Thanks for the welcome.
Here is some new pics. I got it out of the "hole" got it washed. So now to do the damage report...
It looks pretty good cleaned up. It doesn't look like you need much in the way
of extirior trim except maybe a RR outboard tail light. Since your planning on
restoration of the exterior, it doesn't look like a major rust repair or dent
damage problem. How is the interior?

Very Nice. I like the right hand drive. I've only seen one RHD in person and that was an import into Canada from across the pond. Search the site here. If the front jack points aren't rusted, you should be in good shape. Is the battery on the left side and the fuse panel on the right? If so, then you shouldn't have the problems we have with the battery leaking acid or water into the fuse box.
Let us know of your progress. We always like to see another Opel on the road.

I'm very lucky. I found the RR outboard tail light in the Sparewheel space after cleaning up all the old Chevy & Ford engine parts.
The interior is a different story... Looks like a rat got into the Manta in someway so I will have to redo the seats.:Now the qeustion is did it help it self to the wirring?![]()
newbe i have some good seats in the ad section for 30.00 each if your interested ect
