Both of these are excellent ideas! I like the first design better. It would be nice to have a little tray for a cell phone, coins, and whatnot. The cup holder may work well for those who don't have their glove boxes stuffed with crapola... Let me know if you ever make a prototype.

Baronbors, I like the way that it turned out. Not fond of the handle either. What about just having a 2x1/2 inch lip at the edge. Just enough to get your fingers on.

Rrossjr, I like the idea of molding in the cup holder but also like the clean look. I suppose I could swing either way.

Tony, I'm sure there is another site for you swingers. I will be pondering a one cup holder/half tray version shortly. I'll post with updates.

LOL. I'm just a guy who likes to have it my way even if it's different on different days. That's why I have both a GT and Manta and I'm keeping my eye open for a 2 Dr Ascona.

Not perfect but not bad either. How about routing a hidden recess underneath to grab and using a pop out type latch like a lot of glass doors on entertainment centers have to raise it enough to get your fingers under it?

This is how I solved it.

I used a piece of hard 5mm thick Polycarbonat (lying around).
I airbrushed it (wood patern wallnut) as I did with the whole dash and pieces of the console.

I mounted it using 3 magnets and little metal plates.

Here's what I did...got bored one day...made a fiberglass mold on a spare dash I have...used thin clear food wrap to protect the dash and brushed on the resin....built up the cover after making 2 2" tubes for the gauges....still have to sand some more before final spray of truck bedliner

some more....I used the fiberglass resin because I wanted it to be heavy enough to stay in the gb hole, but later designed a hinge to lift it up to use the gbox and hide my stuff...will be installing the hinge this week....what do ya think?

Not bad, I'll give you a pat on the head for that one. Curious to see how Jay is going to improve it though.

Beautiful! You do good work. You know, if an in dash a/c system were possible, that would be perfect for duct outlets.
