    Sparco Steel/R100 Seats

    Hi,
I'm trying to research what seat will fit in my GT, allow a 4 or 5 point harness, still tilt and recline, and is small enough to allow my door bars. Yeah, I'm picky.
I think the Sparco Steel / R100 seats will fit, but I've never seen one in real life.
Besides what's on the Sparco web site, does anyone have any additional info on, or access to this seat?

    Thanks in advance,

    jtb

    Have you looked at CORBEAU?

    I am using a Kirkey 09 Series - Economy 20 Degree Layback.
I remove it for the off season.

    Hi,

Yes, I've looked at Corbeau, I was also considering the A4. The A4 shoulder bolster width is bigger than the Sparco. I know someone said the GTS II fits, too, but mine has a doorbar, so the bottom width may not work...
Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming!

Well, it might come to that. I was trying to avoid swapping, but I want to run Solo 2 too!

OK, well I bought some Sparco R100 seats and here's the results:

They will fit, but it is tight. With the original opel sliders mounted, the sparcos almost hit the headliner when tilted forward. I can fit in the seat with a helmet on but just barely (can't tilt my head to the left due to the slope of the roof) , and I'm 5'8". My brother is 6', with a helmet and the sliders he doesn't fit. Without the sliders, it buys him enough room to fit long enough for a short jaunt with a helmet.
The seats are comfortable enough, great support, they really hold you in place, but I don't know how they would be on a long trip.
In my opinion, they look too big for the car - too tall and the upper 'wings' pretty much touch the door glass when the door is closed, especially on the passenger side.
Width is fine at the bottom, even with the door bars.
Conclusion? I don't know yet. If I bolt the seats in without the sliders, they'll work. If this was a full time race car, no problem, but it's not (I don't think these seats are FIA approved anyways). If I was younger I might not worry about the comfort level for a long trip. I'm going to try a miata seat (if I can find one with removeable headrest) and see how that is.
Well, hope this rambling proves helpful for someone.

    Cheers,

Here is a link to a German Ebay auction for a Recaro that was in the B series Manta, but, also comes in the BMW 320i. These adapt to the stock GT sliders with just a few screws and a few pieces of flat bar stock.

Miata seats fit just fine between the tranny hump and the door. The only issue is they are a bit tall at the bottom cushion. Meaning you sit up about 1.5" higher than a stock seat. This could be improved by removing some of the thickness of the center bottom foam piece. The only down side to this it would make the fabric loose...but I'm sure an upholstery shop could re-sew it and take the slack out.
