    GT Heater/Defrost Blower Tubes

I posted a WTB request on the Ad board and as of yet haven't had any hits. Well except for Gene... and that's another story

So i thought I'd add a post here to spread the word of my needs a little more efficiently.

I have a GT that is in need of ALL of the tubes that connect the heater blower unit with corresponding vents. These are the paper tubes located behind the dash area, not the metal tubes that go through the fire wall. If anyone has some or all of these, please contact me and certainly we can come to an arrangement for compensation.

I really need to get this GT on the road for my daughter and the needed work really begins with the tubes. Without them, the car is pretty much useless as an everyday driver.

I sent you an email Paul about the hoses. While I dont have any, I do have about 6 inches left of what I used. I had read about buying a certain size flex hose that fits and that is what I did. I dont recall where I bought it but read about it here. I will measure mine and perhaps send you a picture. I think it may have come out of JC Whitney. Someone here will probably know.

    A/C hoses

You can buy them online at Nostalgia Air parts.

I believe for the stock system they are 2 1/2" and you can buy them by the foot.

How many feet are required to replace all the hose?

Years ago I think used some left over hose that went on the engine of my old VW bug - this is not insulated but is very flexable.

I spent a couple of hours today searching the web for something close to a direct fit. Unfortunately, they don't sell much in the way of 60mm ducting/hoses in the States. The only 60mm stuff I found is in the UK.
    60mm 2 3 8 ALUMINIUM DUCTING ALIDCT60

The factory system uses a tube that matches the ID and OD of the blower ducting. Then a sleeve slips over both the blower duct and connecting tube to join them.

I guess I could use some 2-1/2 duct material and squish it down with a big hose clamp. Not ideal as many of the ducts sold are made with reinforced wire and might have a problem sealing.

Oh well, If anyone has a parts GT and feels like pulling the instrument panel to get to these blower tubes that would sure make my life easier.

If anyone who has been down this path can remember exactly what they used and can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

You will need no more than 8 feet to do both sides of the defrost.

    hoses

Here are a couple of pics of my hose. I think it came from JC whitney, not sure. Measures 2 1/2 inches in diameter, has metal coil inside. You can tighten the metal coil up so it is a tight fit on the tube ends. It is made of plastic covered, maybe vinyl, metal coil.
Well hopefully the pics are coming thru inspection and certification!!

Maybe the pics make it this time. I think I closed the upload page before it was completed the first attempt.

Thanks for the pictures. I found several like that. Also fro JC Whitney, I found some for a VW that are 2" ID with a thin wall thickness and a smooth exterior, but only 10" long... see link This might work too. I'll wait for the ones from Lyndon and then see if I need anything else.
