    Regional Clubs/Groups

With the show events and club gathering season in full swing, I want to remind everyone of the "Social Groups" program. Regional groups can have their own forum to discuss events or general talk of things going on in their area.

The starter of the social group is the moderator of that group. Each social group has its own forum with a photo gallery so pics posted will be related to that group. Adding events with a link to your group to the Calendar will show the event on the main page.

Visit the Social Groups section here.

    Group avatar . . .

. . . how do I add a group avatar to our TOPS group? I designed one years ago, even before we had groups here.

If you're the only one that can edit/add it, use this one:

If you're the only one that can edit/add it, use this one:

The groups owner (you for TOPS) can add an avatar by hitting the "Edit Group" link at the bottom of the "Groups you created" block that appears on the Groups home page.

OK, thanks . . . did that, but why does it have that annoying grey outline around my transparent background? . . . some avatar attribute setting?, i.e. avatar view = outlined rectangle of image perhaps?

Outline kind of defeats transparent background, I mean, why bother with transparency if the whole image field is defined by an outline . . . just my thoughts on this!

    I thought I'd end up with this . . .

. . . not with this inside a square box?

For example, imagine your own avatar . . . then, inside a box . . . not really as cool now, is it!

That's the default set up. It gives some definition to the avatars on the groups page. Most of them would look incomplete if there was no border. Why not use a complementary background for yours like the Carolina clubs?

. . . defeats the whole design purpose of the logo, it was designed purposely without the need for any "background" and for instant recognition . . . i.e. stands on it's own regardless of background, my original intent. Else I would've just designed it inside a standard box on it's side, like all the others here . . . just too ordinary.

OK, that said and recognizing the groups avatar 'default' format, any way it can be changed to "no border" optionally . . . without making that the default?, i.e. case by case? Just curious, Gary . . .

. . . oh, and on the Carolina Club avatar's "complimentary background," I think it would also would look much better on a transparent background and without any border to confine it, but that's just me.

I looked into it and making the border an option would require adding code to a template which would take some time to do and then the template would need to be re-edited with every upgrade.
