If I'm following your question right "you want to stiffen up the unibody some"
For like better handling correct?
I've wanted to do a search on the same subject..sub frame connectors.
i know there are no "strut towers" on my opel, but i could not find any better description.
my plan is to build coilovers, but since removing the leafspring will remove some stability i would like something that help prevent that.
Your biggest stability issue won't be side to side it will be front to back. There is no support for the suspension. The best way would be to weld in support tubes to a new thicker shock mount. The support tubes could be secured to the firewall and the radiator wall. That is the rout I plan to go. If you install the new thicker shock mount you could remove the fan and put a pusher fan in front of the radiatoor. Then you could bend a shock tower brace around the front of the engine. Another plan of mine.

i think i know what you mean. but a friend of mine has allready built coilovers on his ohv kadett b, without any strengthening. he has driven this for about 1,5 years now and it shows no signs of stress in the metal. but when driving it, it seems the wheels are moving more from side to side than before, independent of each other. that is why we were thinking of strut bars.
maybe a combination of strut bars and strut rods would be best?
strut rods:

I doubt the Z bars would do it. You still have the stresses and flexing on the shock mount which was not designed for it. That is why strut bars were designed.
